Baked French Fries I

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2008
I have made this recipe for years. I have one suggestion: if you like your fries with a creamy center and crisp outside, microwave the potato for 4-5 min first, then slice and make the recipe. Adjust baking time accordingly. Delicious!

The Best Meatballs

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2012
I made this with 1lb extra lean ground turkey breast and 1lb 93% ground beef, used about 3/4 c dry red wine instead of water. Baked 10-15 min at 350 F. I added no salt because of salt in Romano cheese. They turned out awesome! I also made Best Marinara Sauce Yet, served with whole wheat spaghetti and these meatballs, plus leftover szchuan green beans from takeout Chinese! I froze remaining sauce and meatballs for great lunchbox meals. I will definitely make this again.

Quick Turkey and Rice

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2009
I was searchng for a recipe for dinner last night and I had all these ingredients so tried the recipe and this will be a staple. I used ground turkey which I added to skillet after browning the onions and cooked until no longer pink, then added diced tomato because I didn't have stewed tomatoes. I also added: dried oregano, dried basil, garlic powder, red pepper flakes fresh ground black pepper, and garnished with diced fresh Italian parsley and fresh basil. Served it over brown rice. This is a great basic recipe that you can use in a variety of ways. Quick and easy.

Delicious! I used 1/2 t sesame oil and 1 1/2 t vegetable oil. Otherwise i didn't change the recipe at all. I've also made this with cukes, zucchini and small cherry tomatoes. This is a great picnic or potluck dish.

Onion Rice

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2010
This rice is great! I was leery of putting a whole teaspoon of black pepper in it but it have a great flavor. I sauteed it then put in the rice cooker. I also added 3 whole allspice because I love the subtle flavor enhancement. I will definitely make this again many times.

Fresh Tomato Shrimp Pasta

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2009
I made this after doing an ingredient search for what I had on hand and then adapting this recipe. I sauteed all the vegetables first, (used red and yellow bell peppers, onion, garlic and zucchini) and then added one 15 oz can diced tomatoes and 1/4c chardonnay, simmered for 8-10 min and mixed with cooked pasta. I added red pepper flakes for zip. I omitted the shrimp and served this with chicken cutlets marinated overnight in lemon juice, lots of garlic, dried oregano and fresh basil, then dipped in egg mixture and bread crumbs and browned until cooked through in olive oil. I grated parmesan cheese over everything. It was fabulous! I will definitely make this again.

Indian Chicken Curry (Murgh Kari)

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2010
This is a great tasting curry dish. I made it with only a couple of substitutions for ingredients I didn't have, will make again and again. I substituted light sour cream for yogurt, added some fresh cauliflower florets because I had them in the refrigerator, also added a few frozen peas for color. I used bottled garlic chili sauce for cayenne pepper. I also let it cook for almost an hour on low simmer to let the flavors blend. I will also try sambal oleck for heat next time. A great recipe, will make just as written and also great to improvise. Served with brown basmati rice. Great!

Grilled Chicken Thighs Tandoori

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2011
I made this with skinless, bone-in chicken breasts on the grill. Made it with nonfat plain Greek yogurt, because that is what I had. It was delicious, moist. Great flavor. This recipe made enough to use in salads. Served with snap peas with mint from this site. Outstanding!

German Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2008
I made this today and it was great! I forgot to add the Worcestershire sauce, didn't realize it until I came back to review and looked at the recipe. It would have added some extra zip and I would include it in the future. I also added quite a bit of crushed red pepper to make it a little hotter. I would definitely make this again.
