Herb Rubbed Sirloin Tip Roast

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2011
i would have given 5 stars, but i am not a fan or of oregano. i decided to try it anyway but i used too much by mistake ; ) OTHERWISE, this meat was amazing and i will make it again for sure. i added several cloves of smashed garlic to the spice rub. i let the meat marinate in the rub for an hour before i cooked it. my roast was 2lbs. i cooked it at 350 for an hour and 10 mins and it came out medium rare, just how i like it.

Mexican Cornbread Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2011
this salad was SO good! i accidentally left out the green onions and bacon bits, but it still tasted wonderful! i might use some black beans next time too. i think they would add a fun flavor to it. a few of my friends read the recipe and were skeptical, but they loved the salad after they tasted it. i cant wait to make it again!

Cheesy Ranch Potato Bake

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2010
i made a few changes, but im sure no matter how you make this it will turn out awesome!...i pre-boiled the potatoes. added salt, pepper, garlic powder, diced onions. baked for about 15 mins. added ranch, cheese and crumbled bacon. topped with panko bread crumbs and baked for another 5 or so minutes. SOOOO good! i cant wait to make this again! i will probably use fresh garlic instead of powder next time though.

Braised Lemon Pheasant

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2010
i was really scared to eat this since i had never had pheasant before. someone gave the bird to my husband, so i made him cook it!...anyway, it was pretty good. we used white wine and a little of the beef broth. we also added some diced bacon to the pan as the meat was simmering. the flavor came out very nice! i cant say that i will ever ask for pheasant again, but it didnt kill me like i thought it would : )

Breaded Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2010
these sprouts came out so tasty! next time though, i will cut them at least in half if not in fourths. they were just a tad big to put in your mouth all at once. i used frozen sprouts instead of fresh because thats what i had on hand. i put about 10 sprouts in individual ramekins, perfect for serving just two people.

Friendship Soup Mix in a Jar

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2010
YUM!! i made these for christmas gifts. i thought i would try the recipe before i gave them away :) i made the soup last night and it was very tasty!! all of the ingredients are super cheap, so these make perfect gifts if you have several people to give to. i used clear treat bags instead of jars (bags are much cheaper). the only issue i had was that i couldnt find beef boullion granules so i just smashed up a bunch of the cubes. it takes 12 cubes per jar/bag (whatever). i followed the recipe exactly and i think this recipe is a keeper!

turkey cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2010
i made these last year for thanksgiving with the family and they were a HUGE hit! i still have 3 left over from last year on my kitchen counter in a mini cake plate. they are too cute to throw away, and they look like they were just made yesterday!...the directions look long and tedious but once you get in the flow of assembling, they come together very quickly

Artichoke Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2010
i would LOVE to give this recipe 5 stars, but it was just not THAT good! i was so excited to try it, but it was a let down. the only thing i did different was, diced my artichoke hearts instead of puree them. everything else was done according to the recipe. there was just no flavor beyond the normal "mashed potato" flavor. i was quite dissapointed. i may try again, if i happen to have some artichoke hearts that need to be used, but other than that, i will not buy them just for this recipe again

Creamed Beef for SOS

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2010
i only gave it 3 stars because i had to modify the recipe and i know the original way would have been better. i did not have milk so i used my back-up box of powdered milk. the gravy wasnt as good as i think it could have been. i addded onion and garlic to the beef. i also added some worcestershire sauce. there was still a little flavor lacking, so at the end, right before serving, i stirred in a few slices of cream cheese! it actually helped with the flavor and texture of the gravy. i will definitely make this again, but i will make sure i have milk the next time!
