About this Cook
I'm a SAHM who until approx. six years ago didn't enjoy cooking or baking and now consider it a hobby.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake desserts and favorite dishes for family members.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every Valentine's Day and Christmas, I make red velvet cake.
My cooking triumphs
I can now "wing it" with ingredients in my pantry and don't necessarily need a recipe to create something edible.

Sugar Cookie Cutouts
These are very, very good cookies--if you add either more vanilla, or in my case, I added 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla and 1/2 tsp. almond extract. The cookies are very moist and cake-like. And they were easy to roll out.

D's Famous Salsa
Great salsa! We used the recipe more as a jumping off point and didn't really follow the recipe. We modified it slightly by using fresh tomatoes and fresh jalepenos. We didn't have any cilantro, so we added cumin and chili powder to taste, along with more salt than the recipe called for. Finally, since we didn't have any lime, we put in a shot of lime flavored gin. The salsa turned out great with these modifications. I'd say that any salsa recipe is more a matter of individual taste than recipe following, and this recipe allowed us to put together a batch of salsa we really liked.
