Pam's Bierocks

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2009
Alright, I have been dying to review this recipe since only hours ago when I found it. I searched yeast and ground beef because it sounded good and this recipe came up, I'd never heard of such a thing before! These were just wonderful after tweeking with the filling a bit. I added the typical garlic, wors sauce, seasonings etc, and half a can of tomato soup to give it a sauciness. Very good! Next time I'm going to do a cubed pepperoni, mozzarella and sauce combo. Delicious!

Roast Pork with Maple and Mustard Glaze

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2009
I love this recipe. Just tossed one in the oven to serve my MIL for Easter/birthday dinner, we'll see how she likes it! Even my husband, who "doesn't eat pork roast" has been raving about the maple/mustard glazed roast since I made it a few weeks ago. You'd have thought I'd done a magic trick or something, "Maple and mustard?! Who knew?" Anyway, I've made this three times now and I use pancake syrup. Shoot me! pure maple is really expensive and ime the pancake syrup works, too.

T Bird's Beef Jerky

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2009
I've tried this recipe several times over the last couple of months and it's perfect. I personally don't add the entire teaspoon of hot sauce, barely a half tsp I would guess. For some strange reason it always comes out slightly different, but always good! It barely lasts a few days around here. Just a little sidenote: I dump my marinated meat into a colander and then lay it out on sheets of paper towels before putting it in the oven. This speeds up the drying time without altering the flavor. I didn't do this with my first batch and it molded after the second day (not that there was much left)so I've since done the pre-dry drying and it works a charm. I've even used cheaper clearance meat and made this jerky for my dogs with less salt and no hot sauce.

Roast Chicken with Rosemary

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2008
I've been making this chicken for several years now, just never took the time to rate it. I just popped one in the oven and decided to look the recipe up, feeling nostalgic since it's been a long while since I've made one. My daughter's face lit up when I told her what we were having for dinner tonight! This recipe alone is why I'm so glad to have fresh rosemary growing year round. Anyway, I make the same basic alterations that many have mentioned- butter under the skin, rubbing the skin with olive oil, seasoning etc. Never tried the lemon but I definitely will next time. Overall, one of my favorite recipes from this site!

Authentic Louisiana Red Beans and Rice

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2008
This was really, really good and hit the spot. I'd been craving red beans and rice forever. It's really rather basic and for the first two hours I was worried because it seemed to be extremely DULL. At the two hour mark I threw in 3 chicken bouillon cubes and a bit more cajun spice and let it simmer for two more hours before adding the meat (regular smoked sausage links). In the end I was very pleased. Very good.

Blooming Onion and Dipping Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2008
Perfect, just what I was looking for the other night. I don't have any cumin on hand but I don't think it made too much of a difference. I took the advice of others and chilled the sliced onion beforehand, it came out beautiful. Thanks a lot- I'm in the process of making another one right now.

World's Best Peanut Butter Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2007
I'm going to give this five stars because the fudge is really, really wonderful. It did not firm up for me but I'm going to blame myself there. I got stingy with my white sugar and I substituted a cup and a half with brown. I also used generic peanut butter. I'm not sure if those two things made a difference but judging by the reviews- it was something I did wrong.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

I made two loaves last night for pumpkin bread pudding, it was SO good that I had to share a loaf with a friend. At the moment I have two more in the oven for tomorrow's breakfast, it's just perfect, thanks so much.

Spinach and Strawberry Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2007
I used to make this recipe all the time, but a lot of my extended family members are not able to eat seeds. So instead, this year, I used melon balls instead of strawberries and left the seeds out of the dressing. I did add finely minced onion to the dressing as suggested in the reviews. I then threw in a little feta and some crumbled bacon and it was delicious.

Coconut Pound Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2007
I was concerned with this recipe, at first. I made it in a bundt pan so that I could half it and use it as a base for my daughters bunny cake. It was really hard to get out of the pan, and the half I left sitting out overnight was like a rock in the morning. I worried about what was beneath our bunny cake. But everyone raved over this cake, the cake itself not just the novelty of it. The family requested the recipe so it was a hit over here.

Easy Grape Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2007
This was so easy, everyone went bonkers over it, and they were surprised to hear how simple it is. Very versatile, it would be good with almost any fruit. I added the almonds, but it didn't really need them.

Plastic Chocolate

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2007
This stuff is pretty awesome, I'm very pleased. I made a chocolate cake for my mother in laws birthday, and used this to make roses for the top. The roses themselves nearly made me pull my hair out, but I found that a tiny heart cookie cutter makes the perfect petal to wrap with. They were a hit, thanks!

Hershey's® Chocolate Pie with Chocolate Petal Crust

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2006
to those who use store bought pie crusts: you're really missing out.The crust is one of the best things about this pie. I've used, and loved, this recipe for years. I'm surprised I haven't rated it yet, I felt sort of sorry for the recipe having such few ratings so I felt obligated to do so now. This is really wonderful, the perfect chocolate pie.
