Banana Cream Supreme

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2009
This is now a family favorite! My mom requested Banana Cream pie for her birthday, and after seeing how easy this would be to whip up, I decided to make it! I doubled the recipe and used one vanilla and one banana jello. I also added two packages of cream cheese which made it AMAZING! I have had multiple requests for the recipe and made it several more times for family gatherings. Definitely a favorite!

Cashew Chicken with Water Chestnuts

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2009
Loved this simple, basic Oriental sauce recipe. I added a few extras to make it my own, most of which were recommended by other members. First, I doubled the recipe and instead of the veggies she suggested, I added a bag of frozen Oriental veggies. I substituted red pepper flakes for the hot sauce, added 2 T of peanut butter, 1/2 can pineapple tidbits plus juice, a few drops of sesame oil, and I had chicken that was already cooked. I served it with rice, but I would have been more than happy with just the veggies, sauce, and chicken! Way to go Tricia, this is a new staple at my home!

Creamy Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2009
I tried this recipe after have a sweet mango rice at a local Thai restaurant. I tripled the recipe and added a half cup of coconut milk at the end. I sliced up a ripe mango and voila! It was excellent! Thanks for the perfect recipe! BTW, it is a little rough on the arms with all the stirring, but well worth the workout!

Sugar Cookie Drops

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2008
I gave this one 4 stars because I was looking for the soft sugar cookie, and these were very crisp, which wasn't very enticing to me until I decided to dip them in milk! Then, they were melt in your mouth delish! I don't think I'll make them again, just because I really want a soft cookie recipe for my Christmas sugar cookies, but if you like a crisp, dippable cookie, this is the one!

Savory Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2008
I have made home made from scratch cinnamon rolls many times, so I was quite skeptical about making these "Cake Mix" ones, fearing they'd come out tasting "cakey", but they were wonderful! I had to add one more cup of flour than the recipe called for to make my dough less sticky, and I think I would add even more filling next time...I like them very gooey in the middle! They were easy to roll and cut, and they rose very quickly in a warm oven, which cut down on time! Also, I covered them in a cream cheese frosting. The kids and hubby downed two each and wanted even more!

Blueberry Coffee Cake I

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2008
I LOVED this light and delicious coffee cake! I used frozen bluberries, which I had slightly thawed and it came out great. I also used a springform pan, and it popped out beautifully! I only used half of the topping, that was plenty. I also added slightly more milk, because it seemed a little too thick. Overall, excellent recipe! I will use this again and again!

Famous Restaurant Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2008
I thougth this was a little greasy and heavy. The ingredients were right, but I changed it to make it more figure friendly. The first batch I made according to the recipe, it was greasy and kept separating. The second batch was much better, and lower fat and calories too! For the second batch I used half the butter and a light cream cheese. I melted them in a sauce pan and then added flour to make a roux. I allowed that to cook for a few minutes to eliminate the floury taste. Then, I added skim, yes skim!, milk and parmesan and garlic. Seriously, this version went over better with the fam than the first! (And I'll feel better serving them this alfredo more often!)

Pizza Dough III

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2008
Amazing recipe! I have used it dozens of times since first trying it out just a few weeks ago! I've adapted it for my family. I double the recipe and I just do a little drizzle of olive oil to keep the fat down. I've used it for pizza, breadsticks, and cheese bread. We won't be buying take out pizza anymore! It is so quick and easy! It has been extremely popular with my friends and family. It is so easy to stretch! My doubled recipe fills two jelly roll pans. I cook it at 425...I like a crisp crust! I'm definitely going to be passing this one along! Thanks!

Fry Bread Tacos II

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2008
I made this recipe in my Bosch mixer. If you choose to do this, put the milk in first, then add the other ingredients. My first batch tasted bland and was quite wet. I added more salt and flour and they were perfect! I loved how quickly these came together. I had leftover chili, so I didn't use the rest of the recipe, but the fry bread was great. I made extra and tomorrow I'm going to heat them in the oven and sprinkle them with cinnamon sugar and then top them with icecream and chocolate syrup for a get together with some friends. Thanks for the recipe!

Apple Orchard Punch

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2007
My assignment for in-law Thanksgiving-festive drink. I was worried, but decided on this recipe due to it's simple portable ingredients. The many people who reviewed it were right! It was a big hit and I even got requests for the recipe. It will become a holiday favorite I'm sure. I adjusted the ingredients a bit for the size of crowd I was serving. I used one gallon of apple juice, 64 oz of cranberry juice, a carton of orange juice, and two 2-liter bottles of ginger ale. I then slices clementines to serve on top. I put the ingredients in the freezer for just a couple hours because I wanted them ice cold and the orange juice got slushy, but that was a happy accident! It was great!

Oatmeal Peanut Butter Cookies III

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2007
Amazing! The best peanut butter cookie I've ever tasted! I didn't make the filling, I made a thin, drizzly, icing for the top. I used peanut butter, milk, and powdered sugar. I made the first batch, tried it and then decided I better make another batch! Awesome!

Pasta Salad I

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2007
The sweet and tangy dressing is what makes any combo of veggies taste awesome. This recipe is similar to the broccoli salads I've mad in the past. I didn't have all the veggies so I used rotini pasta, peas, broccoli, red onion, bacon, cashews and the dressing. It was a big hit at the baby shower I took it to. I add the cashews and bacon right before serving to keep them from going soggy. I'll keep coming back to this one!

Orange Fluff I

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2007
I made this for a family dinner at my in-laws. I added sliced strawberries and doubled the recipe for our large clan. Many of my sister-in-laws asked for the recipe. They were surprised to know that it contained cottage cheese, because many in the family don't like cottage cheese! I took the advice of other raters and pureed the cottage cheese, making a smooth fluffy consistancy. I will definitely use this again, maybe change the flavor of gelatin and the fruit to make something different every time. I loved this super easy salad!

Sugar Peanuts

Soooo simple! They would be great Christmas neighborhood gifts! They seem like they would be a lot of work, but are simple. Be sure to keep at medium heat until all liquid is absorbed. I put them on parchment paper and it helped with cleanup!
