Strawberry Jam

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2013
Great basic recipe but WAY too much sugar. That much sugar would overwhelm the yummy berries. The berries should be the focus. I used less than 1 cup because I wasn't sure what kind of consistency I would get. Next time, I would use just a .5 cup of sugar.

German Apple Pancake

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2010
I tried this instead of my usual Cook's Illustrated German Apple Pancake. I should have stuck with Cook's! This has way too much egg and is very "meh". I highly suggest the Cook's Illustrated one!

Hello Dollies I

Eh. I can see why people love these. I love dessert but these are just crazy sweet and I even omitted the sugar from the crust. Too much of a good thing.

Eggs Benedict

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2005
This was the first time I made eggs benedict and I decided I wanted to make it while I was making bacon. The sauce was super quick and easy but like the other posters said, there's too much lemon! I always read the reviews b/4 I make a recipe but I didn't this time...oops! Used regular bacon instead of canadian. Quick, easy and good recipe!

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2004
These are great! I've been making them for about 2 years and I always get rave reviews. They're fantastic! I boil the raisins in some water for about 15 minutes before I add them. It makes them moist and gives them a great texture.

Cream Cheese Bars I

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2004
These were good but WAY too sweet for my taste. If I make these again, I would omit 1 cup of sugar. I also had to bake them for almost an hour b/c they just wouldn't set. These also tasted better the next day.

Very good...super moist. It turned out very light. Next time I will add nuts to give it more texture.

Enchilada Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2004
Great sauce! The best compliment I received was that the meal was restaurant quality. No changes made. Will make again.

Asiago Dip with Crostini

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2004
Made this for a wine party to serve with mostly California cabs/mertiage. Got lots of compliments and no leftovers. Did not use the mushrooms or sundried tomatoes but used double the asiago cheese and 2 medium garlic cloves. Served on toasted garlic bread. Next time I'll only use 1 garlic clove (2 seemed too much), will use the sundried tomatoes (for color and flavor) and continue to omit the mushrooms (not a mushroom fan). Good recipe!

Cosmopolitan

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2004
I'm a beer girl so this was my first attempt at making mixed drinks. Made these for a bachelorette party and everyone LOVED them!!! Even got compliments from a guest who is a bartender! Made them virgin for a pregnant guest by substituting Sprite for vodka.

Creamy Chocolate Frosting

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2004
The best thing I liked about this frosting was that it wasn't gooey which is a good thing. I used it for the best brownies recipe. It hardened nicely on them.

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2004
Good brownies. Used the "Creamy chocolate frosting" to put on top. These are for chocolate fans though. I made them for work and I now know that there are not too many chocoholics here. I still had brownies left over 2 days later. Usually when I make baked goods, everything's gone by the afternoon. May make again b/c it was easy.

Banana Bread

Reviewed: May 31, 2004
No spices? No problem! I thought for sure this would be bland without spices...I was wrong! I used 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1/2 cup white sugar and 5 smallish, still-yellow bananas which gave it flavor and moisture. I did split the batch and make half with cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg...tasted great as well. Great recipe!

Irish Flag Frosting

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2001
It did get hard quick but it worked perfectly for frosting the cookies. It's more like a glaze than frosting but it worked great for the cookies.
