Tiny Tarts

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2011
Spectacular. My tarts just came out of the oven and they are utterly fantastic. I am amazed at the simplicity of this recipe. I made just three changes: I added 2 tbps icing sugar to the crust and one tbp corn syrup and some dark choc chips to the filling. Oh and I used walnuts because you can't find pecans here is Pakistan when I live. Thank you for this fab recipe, I think I am going to try the tart crust with some savoury fillings as well.

Tortillas II

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2010
Super recipe - didn't have to change a thing. For people who are having a hard time rolling these out, you might want to knead these for a bit to get the dough to a nice, silky consistency. I covered and kept them for about half and hour instead of 15 minutes. The finished tortillas were so good and they were not crispy at all. Used these with the Pico de gallo chicken quesadillas recipe from this site. Yummy! Having the leftovers for lunch today :)Almost forgot to mention - I substituted butter for the lard.

Pico de Gallo Chicken Quesadillas

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2010
These were excellent. I followed the directions exactly, although I omitted the cilantro and jalapeno because I didn't have those on hand - just used a tiny green chilli instead. Made these with the Tortillas II recipe from this site and wowie! Pico de gallo rocks!

Creamy Smoked Salmon Pasta

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2010
This was alright but not amazing. As other reviewers suggested, I used crushed garlic instead of powder. I didn't have any Romano cheese so I used a bit of cheddar and then we sprinkled powdered Parm on top. Still this could have probably used some cream. Although on the up side, the skim milk made it a lot healthier and it wasn't a terrible dinner.

Great idea, tried this and it was so much easier and better than using a frying pan. Thanks a bunch!

Creamy Chicken and Wild Rice Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2010
Great recipe. I'm not really an experienced cook so I read the reviews carefully. I added some veggies as some suggested and used milk instead of cream in order to reduce calories. I also added the flour tablespoon by tablespoon and found that I only needed 4 tablespoons and not 3/4 cup as the recipe suggested. I also needed less butter. I added mushrooms and carrots as well which made it really hearty and filling.

One Minute Chocolate Icing

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2007
This actually turned out to be a really decent icing. I substituted the cocoa with a bar of melted chocolate and the result was a gooey Mars bar-like fudge. I poured it onto a chocolate cake and chilled it overnight. It was just perfect the next day and not too hard. I would definitely recommend using melted chocolate instead of the cocoa.

Best Ever Chocolate Cutout Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2006
Excellent recipe... people at work and at home LOVED these cookies. Although I chilled the dough only for an hour and let it sit outside the fridge for 20 minutes before rolling it out. Oh and I also used cocoa to knead the dough just as one of the other reviewers suggested. I made these in star shapes and stuck silver dragees on all the points... the looked really pretty and had absolutely no cracks. I'm making these every year, thank you!
