About this Cook
I went to culinary school and worked as a chef in a few local area restaurants. I now own a dessert company preparing sweets for local restaurants. I enjoy and practically live, eat and breathe anything culinary related. :)
My favorite things to cook
Cookies, petit fours, cold noodles, lasagna, prime rib, dumplings, chocolate candies....there isn't a thing I don't like to cook. I love it all!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I don't have one :( My mother and grandmothers couldn't boil water to save their lives !!!! LOL
My cooking triumphs
Making very nice omelettes. Some people tend to underestimate this simple egg dish. But can YOU make a nice omelette? I actually know of a Chef here in Houston who bases his criteria for kitchen help on the basis of their omelette! Hah! It took me a month of cooking these damned things to get it just right!
My cooking tragedies
Uh, where do I start? Hmm...when I was 12 I tried making french baguettes. Let's see.....I killed the yeast because the water was too hot and it went downhill from there! It was more like "baguette ewww rock hard dough bats". I think the other mistakes I've made I have blocked out. I think I have too much pride!!! LOL

Mama's Balsamic Vinaigrette
I have to agree with Dadcooks. If you have a good quality balsamic vinegar, this vinaigrette is spectacular. (To make a cheap balsamic vinegar better tasting, reduce it to half in a non reactive metal pot over low heat. It takes time but worth it if you want that yummy taste).
