I've enjoyed cooking since I worked in a restaurant in my teens.
My favorite things to cook
Breads of all types. I'm also beer brewer - guess I enjoy yeasts and grains. BBQ and grilling.
My favorite family cooking traditions
A French bread made with beer and an old salt risin' bread recipe passed to me by my father. We also have a Thanksgiving tradition of scalloped peanuts and onions and an interesting sweet potato casserole that we never fail to fix.

Pork Chop and Cabbage Casserole
I used a seasoning salt and pepper as I browned the chops. Used cream of mushroom and added a few slice baby bella mushrooms and sliced onions. Covered with foil which I removed after about 50 minutes and baked for 10 minutes more. Chops were moist and veggies were very done. If you cover and if the chops are essentially cooked during the browning, you can take 30 minutes off the cook time (unless your veggies are in a really thick layer. Very good way to use extra cabbage and adaptable to other veggie additions and seasonings.

Spicy Oven Fried Chicken
Used finely ground corn flakes rather than bread crumbs and I left out the sugar and added a bit more cayenne to turn up the heat a bit. Used Frank's Red Hot Original but a hotter sauce would kick heat up a notch. Large breasts which I cut in half to speed marinate (2 hr) and to give a better crumb coating to meat ratio and more flavor. Definitely bake on rack for a crispy finish. Served with homemade buffalo wing sauce and homemade bleu cheese dressing for dipping.

Absolutely the BEST Rich and Creamy Blue Cheese Dressing Ever!
Excellent. I used 1/8 teaspoon sugar. Only suggestion is to double it because this single batch isn't enough.
