Slow-Cooked, Texas-Style Beef Brisket

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2010
This recipe was fantastic! I always used the oven to slow cook my brisket, but never again!!! This meat had a wonderful beef flavor and superb, tender texture. I used a 2 1/2 lb brisket I purchased at my local meat market. and adjusted the recipe accordingly (6 servings). I also lessened the cooking time to 13 hours. The meat pulled apart with ease. I can recommend this recipe and I will definately be making this again!

Onion Roasted Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2008
Very easy and tasty. I soaked the soup mix in the oil (extra virgin olive oil) for several hours while I was preparing Thanksgiving meal. I had to do something when I prepped the potatoes too early, so I poured the soup/oil mixture on the potatoes and put it all onto the pan I was going to roast them on. Covered the pan with foil and set aside until it was time to put them into the oven. I kept them covered with the foil while roasting them. They turned out very good. There was no problem with the onions being dry or burnt. The sweet/savory flavor works!

I served this up on a whim at Super Bowl. Needed something sweet to serve and found this recipe. It was a huge hit served warm from the oven.

Fried Ice Cream

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2007
Wow! These were terrific. A big hit with my family. I prepared the individual servings the night before so I didn't have to do anything after dinner but heat the oil and fry. If your using your refrigerator freezer turn it down all the was to get it as cold as possible.

Shredded Beef for Tacos

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2007
Oh, so good. This recipe makes the most amazing shredded beef which my family used to make burritos. I followed the recipe and the meat didn't fall apart as I expected it to. However I pulled it apart and chopped it a bit and it still was very tender and flavorful. I highly recommend this recipe!
