Morning Glory Muffins I

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2014
Wonderful recipe! I did not use the apple butter as I do not have any. I substituted in 1/3 cup of oil instead as that was what I had, this was in addition to what was already called for in the recipe. I also added an extra half an apple since I skipped the apple butter. I did not cube my apples, I shredded them as I prefer them that way in this type of muffin. Also, I upped the amount of walnuts and I am so glad I did. The recipe definitely does not call for enough if you enjoy walnuts. Wonderful flavor will be putting this into our rotation. I made mine into mini-bread loaves and cooked about 30 minutes.

Mushroom Pork Chops

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2014
It's about what I expected. My children and husband love pork chops; I on the other hand would be ok if I never saw another one again. This covered the flavor and texture enough for me and gave the rest of my family an indulgence that they wanted. I threw some sour cream into the mixture to tang it up a bit and served it all over noodles. The kids and hubby ate it all!

Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2013
Awesome recipe! I did use the lemon juice instead of vinegar, also added double the amount of tomato but that's just because I'm a tomato-ey person :) Turned out great and the kids loved it!

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2013
Everything is good about this--the texture, consistency, etc but the spices are completely off. Also, that's an awful lot of sugar, I think I would half it next time. I doubled the spices and it was still a bit bland.

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2013
I would give this 5 but that's so deceitful when the recipe has the incorrect temperature. That's a pretty big deal. With a 325 oven it's a 5 star but if you cook it too low it's a 1 :) I omit the walnuts because the kids don't like them and swap in some mini-chocoalte chips sprinkled in and on top of the loaf. Yum! Also, it taste just about the same with half the sugar when you add the chocolate chips. Other changes: I use coconut oil since I like the flavor it gives. I use plain full-fat yogurt instead of sour cream.

Miriam's Not-So-Secret Challah

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2012
I've never had challah bread so it is hard for me to rate this recipe on the flavor of typical challah. So I will skip that part. As for the reviewer who had her bread fall flat she probably forgot salt, so don't forget to add that and your bread should be fine. Mine rose perfectly and looks stunning! It did only cook for about 30 minutes so be sure to check on it after 30 minutes in the oven. Thanks for a great recipe for a newbie to challah!

Really good! I am a butterscotch chip junkie so I used 1 cup of butterscotch, 1/2 cup mini semi sweet chocolate and 1/2 cup milk chocolate. Good!

Double Layer Pumpkin Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2012
Cream cheese flavor was a bit overpowering. I added two teaspoons of pumpkin pie spice and it was a bit blah. Not impressed, definitely better recipes for this type of dessert.

Grandma's Egg Custard Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2012
I confess, I am the horrible reviewer who did not follow the recipe yet is rating it. I am only doing it for the sake of everyone out there who needs to know the results of the changes though. Just so you know, I hate it when people do this. I used a can of coconut milk, a can of evaporated milk and stevia. Turned out great! Couldn't even taste the coconut milk, which is what I was hoping for.

Bran Flax Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2012
This was way short on cinnamon, 1 1/2 T would have been MUCH better. It was good, nice texture. I added 4 apples for a total of about 2 cups of apple. Seemed just right. Used 3/4 cup whole wheat and 3/4 all purpose flour. Also tossed in about 1/2 cup of chocolate chips since I will be feeding the to the kids :) I was going to toss in coconut but forgot, would have been really good in there too! The oil could have been completely omitted as well. Great recipe with some room for improvement.

I sent 1/2 C oatmeal through the food processor and added an addition 1/3 cup. Turned out perfect! Thanks for the recipe. Thanks for posting! Note: If you are looking for a gooey chocolate chip cookie recipe this is not it. This is an oatmeal style cookie.

Galuskies

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2012
There was a lot left to be desired for flavor. Kicking it up on the spices would definitely help. The texture was great. The cabbage was cooked perfectly for working with. I might try this again but definitely not as written, I will add typical sausage flavors to the mixture. Also, I might add a bit more sauerkraut.

Kind of crumbly but great flavor. My whole family ate these up but I struggled to keep them together in the pan. Not sure what the problem was.

Apple Pie Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2012
I attempted to make these as a bread and it didn't quite work out. It lacked the structure to stay together. The flavor was fantastic though and I think as a muffin it would have held fine. Other than the change in pan I followed the recipe to a T.

Best Ever Banana Bread

Reviewed: May 31, 2012
Great starter recipe. I only used 1/3 brown and 1/3 white sugar. The full 1 1/2 would be way too sweet. Also I added about 1 1/2 t of vanilla, sprinkled with mini chocolate chips and it was perfect.
