Land of Nod Cinnamon Buns

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2010
first of all, let's give credit to the Best of Bridge cookbooks that this recipe came out of. Secondly, I have prepared this recipe no less than 100 times, and except for the time I apparently had a little too much egg nog on Xmas eve and forgot the melted butter....it never fails!! I usually add pecans. This has been used for over 25 years in our house for Xmas, birthday sleepovers, family brunch. I would NEVER make it for just my husband and myself now! I'd eat the whole thing!

Orange Streusel Muffins

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2009
I decided to make these muffins for two reasons. The first...I had marmalade in the fridge that I wanted to use up, and secondly, I felt bad because it looked like a good recipe and no one had reviewed it. The only variations that I implemented were adding a handful each of pecans and craisins to the batter. I did also add 2 tbsp of sugar to the batter since my marmalade was authentic british and more bitter than American marmalade. The recipe yielded 10 good size muffins....could be stretched to a dozen perhaps. They are a nice blend of sweet and slightly bitter. I loved the streusal topping. I find most muffins are boring and unattractive but these are most pretty and interesting! Delicious too!

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2006
Obviously no need to say this is a fabulous recipe. I made this recipe twice...both times I added an extra 1/2 cup sugar and 1/8 cup flour (I baked the cookies at 390 degrees for 6 to 7 minutes). My dough was never sticky. The first time I made the dough it too difficult to work with when it was refrigerated. The second time I made the recipe, I used the dough immediately without chilling. I rolled the dough out between two sheets of wax paper. Then I cleared away the excess dough, and flipped the cookie over into my hand with the wax paper. (This will probably only work if you like your cookies thick like we do) The second time I made the cookies, from the time I started making the dough until the time all the cookies were rolled and cut, was less than an hour!! Until this recipe.....I've always hated making sugar cookies....but now it's a snap!! Hope this works for others as well!

Cinnamon Rolls III

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2010
I've never had too much success with cinnamon rolls until today! I made these and they were wonderful. I used candied pecans and I added raisins too! This is my new cinnamon bun recipe. For the record...I only had rapid-rise yeast and it worked fine. I delivered some to my neighbor's family....otherwise my husband and I would have eaten too many! Thanks for the recipe.

Banana Muffins I

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2010
I gave these muffins 5 stars based on the fact that they have no shortening and very little sugar, resulting in a very low calorie muffin. I used 1/3 cup of sugar actually, but I used non-fat sour cream. They stuck a little to the paper, which is not surprising, and I might use a different recipe if I were making these for company. But based on the fact that I made this batch into 11 muffins that were 90 calories each, I will keep this recipe and reuse it over and over. They were very tasty. Next time, I plan on adding fresh blueberries.

Cinnamon Hazelnut Biscotti

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2009
I was envious when I viewed everyone's Biscotti photos, but those were what convinced me that I too could make this if everyone else could. It is a great recipe. I made it exactly as directed with the exception of adding about 3/4 cup of craisins. I melted semi-sweet chocolate and iced my Biscottie. I also baked them for an additional 10 minutes after slicing and then I turned off the oven and left them in while the oven cooled. Otherwise I think they would have been too soft.

Goat Cheese Stuffed Lamb Burgers

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2010
My husband and I enjoy lamb burgers quite regularly and I used this recipe last night. I did as Mochinda recommended...I mixed the goat cheese as per the recipe and made flat discs and put them in the freezer while mixing the rest of the burgers. When the burger mixture was ready, for each burger, I split the meat into two, flattened them into two skinnier patties and then put one of the flat discs in between and sealed the burger....leaving them in the fridge until ready to use. It worked like a charm. These are so delicious, I swear I could eat them every night!

Banana Chai Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2008
I substituted "Good Earth Sweet and Spicy" herbal tea.... used 1.5 cups mashed banana, and substituted 1/4 splenda and 1/5 cup granulated sugar. I added 1 tsp each cinnamon and allspice. By preparing it this way 1/12 of loaf contains 1 gram fat, 1.3 grams fiber and only 145 calories. My loaf was done in 45 minutes.......I will most definitely make this again.... and again. Thanks.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2012
...I thought I made good banana bread until I made this recipe. Based on reading the reviews, I learned that you shouldn't use a mixer once you add the bananas to the bread mixture, because it adds air and takes away from the moisture. I didn't have enough butter so I added a few tablespoons of applesauce. I also used 4 very very ripe bananas. My bread was dense and very moist. The best I've ever made. I added cinnamon and nutmeg as well for extra flavor. Delicious.

Raspberry Streusel Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2010
these are pretty yummy indeed, but better if you wait for them to cool! Because there is only my husband and myself, and I can't be trusted to leave baked goods alone....I made a 1/2 batch-using the entire egg, and slightly more sugar and milk than 1/2 based on previous reviews. They were very good.....oh-I also added fresh blueberries.

Green Bean and Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2009
I just made this and it looks like the dog's breakfast and tastes like heaven! I made it pretty much according to the directions. I cut down the olive oil a little, increased the basil, and added some crumbled bacon. Finally, a recipe that uses green beans that I like! I hope I can leave it alone long enough to let it get cool and steep in the flavors. YUM!!
