About this Cook
I grew up in a large family with Grandparents aunts, parents brother and sister. Cooking was always done together putting a little of this and a smidge of that in whatever was being made. It was my job as a 3 year old to seal the ravioli with a fork. I can still smell the flour and feel the breeze on my face as Gram flapped the dough around a stick. How could I not love to cook after such a wonderful childhood in the kitchen.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook nearly anything with the exception of fried foods. Decorating the plates etc. with cut veggie flowers and herbs from my kitchen garden.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Gathering in the kitchen to cook for holidays. Ravioli for Christmas with wine fruit in a punch bowl as a center piece.
My cooking triumphs
I baked a square cake and decorated it like a flowered quilt to surprise two guests who stayed at our old house B&B to celebrate a sister's Birthday. At the time, I had no clue how to use a decorating kit.
My cooking tragedies
I made a chocolate cake for a friend's Birthday that turned out flat. I decorated it like an Oreo cookie and it was a big hit.

Grilled Balsamic Peaches
We all loved it.(adults) No cajun but topped with goat cheese. It is very rich, but delish. The kids did not like the peaches grilled let alone the balsamic or cheese.

Mediterranean Chickpea Salad
I followed the recipe with the exception of feta cheese instead of mozzarella. It tasted a bit bland to me so I added dried mint, marjoram, and basil. Then I thought that I would use some of the Mediterranean fruit that I had on hand so threw in some chopped dates and figs and a potato that I had left from the Russian salad that I made Fri. So after all of those additions, it was fantastic! That's why I gave it 4 stars. It is a wonderful basic start to a great healthy filling salad.

Russian Salmon and Potato Salad
I made this for dinner tonight and we both enjoyed it very much. I ran out of mayo and used low fat sour cream to help stretch the mayo that I had. Also added dill to the dressing and garlic powder. It is a nice Lenten meal with a veggie side and a little apple sauce. We are looking forward to the leftovers.
