Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2014
Delicious- I halved the butter and put in a half cup of applesauce to cut fat, and only ½ c sugar-it was delicious- though I'm sure it would be even richer with butter and more sugar, so I give it 5 stars! Best 'diet' banana bread ever-- My bf scarfed it up before I could get to eat much of it! He sure never noticed the less sugar and fat. Next time I would probably just add some spice like cinnamon- personal preference. into the recipe box it goes- thanks!

Bird Seed Energy Bars

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2014
My bf gobbled these up- I added an egg since others said it was too crumbly- it made them a little dense but we liked them that way, they seemed more filling than a granola bar, and held together just fine. Also ground the flaxseed first -since they are not digestible unless you do- using a coffee grinder. These feel like good healthy filling food, not like candy bars- the seeds added lots of crunch in a dense bar. Will probably add more spice next time, just my preference- this is a great fast snack!

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2014
These were delicious- hard to not love brownies! But they were too sweet for me as written, believe it or not, and not quite chocolatey enough. They came out slightly dense and moist, a little chewy outside, lighter in color, and very buttery yummy flavor. Not the 'crackle top' dry top I usually see on brownies and like the photo- perhaps it's my oven, or that I added walnuts which may have had an effect. My eggs were very large as well-farm eggs- I will try the same recipe with less sugar and more cocoa powder to see if it's perfect for me- but very tasty.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2014
yummy- I forgot to add the butter but it was fine without it because I had used a box of stock instead of the water. I used bone-in breasts since that's what I had, and pulled them out and deboned them- the bones add more flavor, I think, since it was a very flavorful broth. The only thing I added was herbs de provence patted onto the breasts before putting them in the pot. Flattened the biscuits a bit with my palm- one can was enough-and sliced strips and added 1 ½ hours before serving. Turned out great, I think adding veggies would detract from the rich chicken flavor. The chicken just FELL off the bones, it was simple to remove with a slotted spoon, take off all the meat and return to the pot, add the dumplings and let them cook. I cooked it total about 6 hours. Thanks, I'll be making this ALOT!

Hummus III

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2014
I think many will like it, but I thought it had too much tahini, it gave it a little too much bitterness- I thought it needed a bit more lemon, too. But it was good, people will tweak it to their liking! I also couldn't get it as smooth as I like, I may try peeling the skins off the chickpeas next time just to see if that helps.

Honey Mustard Dressing II

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2014
Was very tasty! I liked it a lot, although next time I will make it with Dijon to see what that does to the flavor- I felt it was yummy, but will look for whatever it is that I want to give it a bit more depth- will try adding some spices as other reviewers have tried to see if that beefs up the flavor. Thanks for the recipe, I'm not a sweet dressing lover tho the bf is- he loved it and you may have converted me!

Arugula Hummus

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2014
I liked the change in flavor of adding arugula- not overpowering, just a different flavor. I had to add some water because it was too thick for my processor to mix well, and I increased the lemon but the rest I did according to recipe. I thought the garlic level was fine, but I had used good sized cloves. Pretty tasty!

Bacon Ranch Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2012
Very yummy- I added whatever veggies I had to use up and it just added more to it- it's the dressing that makes it- so you can change things up if you need to- I added a bit more milk as suggested since I added more veggies- delicious, thanks!

Exquisite Pizza Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2012
flavor is good, but too sweet, even with only putting 1 1/2 T honey- will cut back next time, I put in a tomato sauce and more cheese, and it's still too sweet for me! Nice looking sauce, though.

Creamed Chipped Beef On Toast

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2012
Delicious! I forgot and added salt so it was too salty- big boo boo- the dried beef has plenty of salt. I halved the recipe for two people, and added at least half a cup more milk, as it kept getting thick, which stretched it far enough for 4 english muffin halves, as half the recipe alone would not have been enough. Great quick filling breakfast!

Beer Cheese Pretzel Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2012
Loved it! Big hit- made it half size and it works fine, used newcastle brown ale, more robust flavor I think than a bud or lighter beer. Easy and yummy!

Zucchini Patties

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2011
Very easy to make, quick simple meal- going by other's suggestions, I squeezed the water out of the zukes first, sauteed chopped mushrooms with the onion before stirring into the batter. They were very good as is, but still a bit bland for my taste, so next time I would add more herbs, probably basil, garlic chives- and up the mushrooms/onions. I topped with fresh marinara and parmesan- love the quickness and ease of this recipe, it's a keeper- my bf who doesn't care for zukes loved it! I only got 6 cakes out of the recipe, we ate all of them!

Asparagus Cashew Rice Pilaf

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2011
Was great! Fluffy, buttery, moist- I doubled it, had to use chicken bouillion cube, and I used walnuts cause I had them. I liked it fine with the walnuts. Making it again, I would probably decrease the butter just a bit- very nice side dish, easy and not overpowering, a good accent to main course.

Angela's Awesome Enchiladas

Reviewed: May 4, 2010
This was fairly easy to make, I did it pretty close to the recipe ex for using canned chicken- which worked great in a pinch and made it fast- no one noticed it wasn't really shredded chicken. Sauce is rich and tasty, my lack of a fifth star is because it tasted too rich, and too commercial with the can soup and enchilada sauce and taco seasoning- like Taco Bell- which I love- but the only thing making it better would be a homemade sauce/seasonings- overall an easy, filling dish- one was plenty for each person with beans and salad. Will make it again! Thanks!

Curried Coconut Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2010
This was very easy to make and it tasted good, but too tomatoey for me, and a bit too sweet for my taste. I should have known by the two cans of tomato in the recipe, but for some reason it didn't compute- was like tomato soup with chicken - I added cilantro and green thai curry paste to tone the tomatoes down, also had to thicken with cornstarch beaten into cold water and add to boiling stew. But chicken was tasty, tender, could barely taste the curry for the tomatoes- good for those who like sweeter, milder, curries, or someone new to curries, perhaps.

Sweet Russian Cabbage Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2009
i should have known I wouldn't be crazy about this since I don't like sweet in my soup- even after cutting the sugar down, I didn't care for it- it tasted fine, I just am not into sweet tinges in my food- those who are will like it. I just wanted to give it a shot. Not the recipe's fault.

Herb Rubbed Sirloin Tip Roast

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2009
I loved the rub- not too salty to me- it was kinda smoky, and had less of the bite that commercial preps have, I liked it and plan to use it again! My roast came out tender and yummy!

Baked Pork Chops I

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2009
these turned out tender and tasty, even though I had to use cream of chicken instead of mushroom! Only voluntary change was sauteing fresh mushrooms and green onions with the soup mix- will make this again for sure!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2009
Everyone loved it, I did it exactly as per the recipe except for mixing 1/2 the sauce into the apples first. I overcooked it a bit, so the apples were more done than they should have been, but everyone raved anyway! Next time I'll try some of the other's suggestions for fun.

Cha Cha's White Chicken Chili

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2008
Very easy and fast- I had to use canned chicken and veggie broth, but it came out great- i left out the jalapenos for less heat, and the green chilies were plenty to flavor and spice it for the less spice tolerant! I added corn for color. Great for a fast no fuss dinner!
