About this Cook
I am a 37 year old stay at home mom of two boys; 6 & 14. All of my teenage son's friends find an excuse to always show up at dinner time - we always make room. I have catered a few small parties and our friends have admitted to throwing parties for no reason just to taste what I bring. I am inspired by Paula Deen, Tyler Florence and anyone else I think can cook better than me. I am so proud of my son who will be entering a culinary apprenticeship program next year - it feels good to know that even though he is a teenager we can still maintain a connection. My six year olf refers to me as the "best cooker" - he cracks us all up. My hubby, well let's just say he usually doesn't say much since his mouth is full most of the time. ;-)
My favorite things to cook
I LOVE to cook tradionally southern foods but with my own little twist on them. My favorite food it Italian and have been taught by some of what I consider to be the best Italian cooks I have ever met... manga manga! I get the most joy out of cooking for others; especially when it looks complicated but it really wasn't. he he!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Well, I am fotunate enough to have had two wonderful grandmothers that taught me so many wonderful dishes. My grandmother's chicken & dumplings recipe CANNOT be beat - my family flips over it when I make it. Her home-made mac & cheese is pretty far up there and I would never mess with my mom's cranberry herb stuffing... it is absolutely THE BEST!
My cooking triumphs
Mexican Lasagne
My cooking tragedies
My most recent version of chicken fried steak. I think I was rushing and added too much salt to the flour mixture - yuck! To top it off we had a dinner guest that night that had been looking forward to a good home cooked southern meal for weeks. We had to order a pizza - I felt so bad!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip Fudge
made this for the first time... very easy, but very sweet. I would add a pinch of salt as suggested by another person to level out the sweetness. I added toffee chips instead of peanut butter ones - that may have put it overboard on the sweetness scale but either way was still very good!
