About this Cook
I am a stay at home mother of two and I enjoy cooking new things. I pretty much stick to the recipe since I am still trying to figure out how seasonings and ingredients mix together for the flavors my family likes. I would love to be able to just throw things together and have it turn out great like many cooks can do. One day I hope to take some cooking classes to learn some tricks of the trade.
My favorite things to cook
Pasta sauce and chicken breasts are staples in our home.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Holidays of course where my mom and aunts overdue it with multiple main dishes and an abundance of desserts.
My cooking triumphs
I ground, stuffed, and cooked my own polish sausage. Can't say I will do than again any time soon since it took forever!!
My cooking tragedies
I still can't make a decent chocolate chip cookie!

This was a good Mexican flavored soup. I added some fresh cilantro, garlic powder and salt to the meatball mixture and used reduced sodium beef broth instead of the water and bouillon. Chi Chi's chunky salsa worked good for us. Next time I will add corn for more dimension. I wasn't sure only 1 quart of liquid would be enough but once I added the salsa it just covered the veggies and meatballs and turned out to be the perfect amount of liquid. I didn't cook the veggies before adding the meatballs b/c I thought they would turn to mush. Formed the meatballs, then cut up all the veggies and brought them to a boil and added the meatballs right away. Turned out perfect this way.

Porkolt (Hungarian Stew) Made With Pork
I really liked it but the rest of the family just thought it was okay. I halved the recipe which was just enough for a family of 4 and a little left overs. I didn't have Hungarian Paprika so I used regular. Fresh garlic instead of powder. Red instead of Yellow pepper and only 1/2 cup of regular sour cream. Next time I will probably put it in the crock pot to make things easier. I diced boneless pork chops before browning them in bacon grease and went a little heavier on the bacon!
