Artichoke Chicken

I do not keep mayonnaise in my house so used alfredo sauce in its place. This is one of my favorite recipes from AR so far.

Dog Treats I

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2011
My puppy loves these treats! I did use peanut butter instead of beef flavoring and cheese. The dough was very easy to work with! Thank you!

Unbelievably Easy Slow Cooker Black Forest Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2011
Made this for the recipe group. I'm sorry for the low rating, but this did not turn out for me. To be fair, I did use a sugar-free cake mix. I tried to leave it alone for the entire time, but it still had dry spots after two hours. I blended those into the partially cooked mix. I tried it after three hours and didn't care for it. It didn't taste like a cake. It was more like partially cooked brownie mix. The fruit is great together and I saved that. I'm glad it worked out for others!

Sarah's Applesauce

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2011
I do not like pre-made applesauce so I decided to give this a try today. I used Cameo apples. Thank you for the great recipe!

Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2011
I added fresh mushrooms to the gravy. I couldn't find cream of french onion so I just used the regular soup version. The meat had a really good flavor, but I think cream of mushroom soup would make a better gravy than what I ended up with. Also, I will probably use more bread crumbs next time.

Apple Bavarian Torte

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2011
I scaled it down for two portions and didn't use a springform pan. I also used blackberries instead of apples. I cooked them for a few minutes in water, sugar, and cinnamon before I topped the cream cheese mixture. I also left out the almonds. I am looking forward to trying this with different types of fruit!

Chocolate Frozen Yogurt

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2011
I used 1/4 cup of sugar instead of 3/4 cup because my chips are milk chocolate. I only had french vanilla yogurt so I used that and decided on almond extract. I took the advice of others and added cocoa. I don't have an ice cream machine, but this still turned out well. I'm excited to try different flavor combinations! Thanks!

Pesto Pasta

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2011
I made this for the recipe group. I used rotini pasta because it is what I had on hand. I thought I would follow the advice of other reviews and melt the cream cheese with milk before adding to the rest of the sauce. It has a very fresh and light taste. I think it would be really good with roasted peppers instead of the tomatoes. Thank you for the recipe!

Sally's Spinach Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2011
I left out the onion and used the cheese I had on hand. I also used fresh spinach sauteed in garlic. I will probably add bacon and stir the cheese into the potatoes the next time I make this.

Blue Bacon Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2011
I didn't change much with this recipe and it worked out okay. I did not blend the stuffing in the blender. I like texture and thought I would skip that step after reading a review from another member. The flavor was good, but the blue cheese was a little overwhelming. I think more bacon and less cheese would make this taste better.

Better Than Sex Cake II

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2011
I combined the milk with butterscotch topping and poured it on the cake. I also made my own frosting. This cake is super sweet and rich. I also like how versatile this recipe is as you can use any candy and topping you prefer.

Peppered Shrimp Alfredo

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2011
We enjoyed this. I was worried about using alfredo sauce from a jar, but it was good. I think we may use more mushrooms and add bacon to it tomorrow. I would also suggest using less than the amount of pepper listed and add as you go. It is pretty hot.

Snow Flake Cocoa

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2011
I made a quick microwave version of this and it was very good. My other changes were that I used almond milk, Baileys flavored creamer and a tablespoon of pumpkin.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

I added vanilla, used half melted butter and half olive oil, doubled the spices, topped the bread with chopped walnuts and poured a cinnamon-brown sugar-melted butter mixture on top after baking.

Honey Baked Chicken II

I scaled this recipe down and used thin chicken breasts so I didn't have to cook it for near as long, but it was still really good.

Spinach Brownies

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2011
I added several things to this recipe because I wanted it to be an easy breakfast for me to eat during the week. The first thing I did differently was saute the onion in butter and garlic. I also added cooked mushrooms and turkey sausage crumbles to the "batter". I used one can of Rotel to top the entire dish. It turned out really well.
