Braised Balsamic Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2009
I made this last night at the last minute after arriving home with no plan for dinner. It was super easy, tasted wonderful and is healthy. What more can you ask for in a recipe. I made it exactly as directed, except I used the diced tomatoes already seasoned with basil, oregano and garlic, because that's all I had in the pantry. I still added the spices as the recipe says and it definitely was not too much. It was delicious and will be made many times again in my house. It is also very pretty and could easily be served to company.

Four Cheese Macaroni

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2009
This was my first attempt at homemade mac and cheese. Everyone declared it very, very good and definitely better than the box. I just hate that it has to be so unhealthy.

Hot Mexican Spinach Dip

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2009
This is delicious! My only problem was that I think I put it in too small of a pan and it really did not heat as evenly as I would have liked. Be sure to put it in a dish with a little extra room in it. I will definitely make it again!

Grilled Bacon Jalapeno Wraps

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2009
My husband came home from work with this recipe he had gotten from a friend. I am not a jalapeno eater myself, but he says they are great.

Chicken Enchiladas I

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2009
This is a delicious recipe. I usually try to review a recipe "as is," but I did do 2 things different. I prefer my chicken shredded, so I either boil it or cook it in the Crock Pot overnight, then shred it. The other difference is that instead of the jarred taco sauce, I made red enchilada sauce from another recipe on this site. They are delicious. I may make it with jarred taco sauce in the future if I have less time. I usually make a double batch and freeze half to have another ready-made meal for a busy night. Great recipe!

Honey Roasted Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2009
I thought this recipe was okay. The potatoes were good, but nothing really special. I might try it again sometime.

Oatmeal Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2009
OMG!! I made these cookies because of the comments of another reviewer who said her husband does not like peanut butter cookies, but he liked these. I love peanut butter cookies, but my husband does not, so...I thought, "Hmmm...I'll give it a try." I took one bite and almost died. My husband ate about 3 right out of the oven and another 3 later with a glass of milk. I don't think the batch will last over 24 hours! These are phenomenal!!

Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2009
This is absolutely delicious and disappeared in less than 48 hours. Everyone was upset when they realized it was all gone already! The only comment I have is that I had to bake it for over 70 minutes and it still was not quite as done as it should have been. My oven is usually pretty accurate, too. Anyway, this is my new staple banana bread. Thanks for sharing!

Spicy Garlic Lime Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2009
This is very flavorful! I am giving it 5 stars, because I came home from work last night with no plan for dinner and was able to produce this lovely little dish from what I had in the pantry/freezer in less than 30 minutes. That's a 5 star recipe for me!

Grandma Ople's Apple Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2009
This a beautiful pie with a great flavor. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I'm not sure it is really that much better than a basic apple pie, considering the extra work involved.

Crab Cakes III

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2009
These were very good, especially with the "roumelade sauce a la New Orleans" from this site. It was pretty tricky keeping them from falling apart, but I managed. You just have to make sure you get the first side really nice and browned before you turn them over.

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2009
This was the easiest, best BBQ I have ever made. I was tempted to throw in an onion, because I was afraid it would not have enough flavor. However, I decided not to and didn't miss it at all. It was very flavorful. I made it in the Crock Pot, just cooked it on low for 6-8 hours, drained the juice, added BBQ sauce and let it sit on "warm" for an hour or two. We had nothing left over and I can't wait to make it again.

Beef Tenderloin With Roasted Shallots

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2009
I made this for Christmas dinner and it was absolutely delicious. I was very torn about whether or not to put the sauce in the blender, as there were so many people who recommended each way. I decided to make it exactly as the recipe says and I was not sorry. I am sure, though, that the sauce would be wonderful blended, as well. I don't think you can really mess up something so fundamentally good. Thanks for sharing!

Awesome Sausage, Apple and Cranberry Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2008
I made this for Thanksgiving but did not stuff it in the turkey. I baked it as others suggested at 350 degrees for 45 min. covered, then about 20 min. uncovered, stirring every 15-20 min. Most of my guests thought it was delicious, but my husband prefers a more traditional stuffing. He wasn't crazy about the sweetness of the cranberries and apples. It is beautiful and very flavorful. Definitely worth trying.

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2008
I'd really like to give this 4 1/2 stars. I made this for Thanksgiving and it makes the most beautiful turkey I've ever seen. As others have said, the meat was as moist as any turkey I've ever had. My only complaint (if you can even call it that) is that I really thought it didn't have quite enough flavor. Next time I might combine this with the Rosemary Turkey recipe to see if it will be just a little more flavorful. I will definitely use this recipe again in the future!

Apple Butter Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2008
I made this pie for Thanksgiving and it is very good for something a little different. However, if you are hankering for just plain old-fashioned pumpkin pie, save this recipe for another day. It is a delicious pie!
