About this Cook
I'm a hospice nurse in a rural area of coastal NC. Live with husband, 3 dogs, 2 cats and a bird. Have one grown-up son, a mental health counselor in Florida.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook just about everything. Love to eat just about everything, too!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Both my parents were excellent cooks. Mom was German and an exceptional baker, especially for holidays. Dad was raised on a farm in the midwest and specialized in down-home American fare.
My cooking triumphs
My son loves to cook and calls me for recipes and cooking tips!
My cooking tragedies
Wouldn't call it tragedy, just learning from mistakes... when I was young I made a big dinner for guests using untested recipes. Only the biscuits were edible, and even my dog didn't want the leftovers!

Cottage Cheese Roast
This is really good! Husband really loved it. We didn't expect it to be like ground beef meatloaf, but it is reminiscent (probably more so for those of us who have been vegetarians for a while). Next time I'll try it with half the oil and no nuts. Very good with mushroom gravy and mashed potatoes! Try it!!

Classic Spanish Sangria
WOO-HOO! Fantastic! Reminds me of Ybor City sangria... thanks for this one. Tastes great, exceptional stress-relieving qualities, too!

Tennessee Rubdown
Really, really good! Tried it on spareribs, and they came out just like the best Tennessee BBQ! Needs no "tweaking", perfect as submitted. Thanks for this one, it's a keeper!
