About this Cook
Wife and mom.
My favorite things to cook
I like to try new things.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Pennsylvania Dutch, German Mennonite, and a good old Californian-American mix of everything.
My cooking triumphs
Learning to cook with fresh herbs, trying different herbs & seasonings on dishes I already enjoy.
My cooking tragedies
Not so good with pie crusts - I think I handle them too much.

Moroccan Lentil Soup
Really savory and delicious. Had it with some Middle Eastern Flatbread from Trader Joe's. Whole family loved it and we're not even vegetarian!

Venison Stew I
I married into a family of hunters. This recipe is the first one where I actually enjoyed the venison, not just tolerated it. I thought the 1 tablespoon salt would be way too much, but I went with it. It wasn't too much - just perfect. The only change I made was to replace one of the cups of water with red wine. I am making it for the second time tonight. Thanks for the great recipe.

Orzo with Parmesan and Basil
Made this for dinner tonight. Great! Didn't have fresh basil, so I used dried. Still really good. I'm sure it would be amazing with fresh. Also, didn't have parmesan, so I used Asiago. Will definately make again. The whole family loved it, including a 5 year old and 3 year old twins. Thanks!
