It is possible that I am unfairly giving this recipe 4 out of 5 stars because I changed it, but I don't think the changes I made affected it that much. With that said, I made the following changes based on what I had: frozen, thawed, smashed strawberries, one 3 oz. package of strawberry Jell-o, and a funfetti cake mix instead of the yellow. The cake flipped nicely. It would probably have been a better idea to not have smashed the strawberries so much. The additional 3 oz. of gelatin would have probably kept it gelled better. The cake had an okay flavor, but next time I think I will stick with a simpler strawberry short cake.
