Four Cheese Macaroni

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2008
I did what several stated and doubled the cheese. TO MUCH I can see doubling the cheddar but next time not the white cheese and I will not add the 3 oz extra velvetta as it was oily. Everyone said it was good but it was thick and rich and could not be eatten in large amounts. I think the recipe as is would have been better. If I followed the recipe =) More is not always better.... I also omitted the egg this I will repeat. It is a great dish to make the day before.

Strawberries and Cream Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2008
This was a good cake....I used cisco and all purpose flour. No stick and make sure everything is dry. Next time I will double the cream cheese and put over the entire cake them decorate with the whip cream and strawberries. My husband wanted more strawberries in the cake itself. This was a hit and the huge cake was almost gone.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
This was good but not a specific recipe and I had to make changes. Recipe as is would be dull. I used a 6 quart CP. When I filled mine with chicken broth it was too much liquid. If you’re not sure take out a cup or two and add biscuits you can always add more back in. Additions or changes celery one chopped thin one can cream celery one can cream of chicken onion powder I used a small onion garlic ½ tablespoon 1tsp white pepper Tablespoon paprika, salt pepper some bouillon because it just needed it. I had to cook biscuits 90 minutes, and with additions it was good, was a little soupy but everyone got seconds. I added extra juice in and more biscuits to the leftovers

Old-Time Buttermilk Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2008
This pie had a really good flavor it was sweet. I love sweet but this was really sweet. I will make this again as I always have buttermilk in the house. One thing I will try due to the age of this recipe. Sugar is very different now than it was in the 1800s early 1900s. Bought from the Caribbean or Africa it is more the natural sugar you can buy in health food stores or in ethnic speciality stores. I will lower the sugar down to around 1 cup or I may try this 1.5 cups natural sugar.

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2008
I loved how easy this was. I thought it was a little thin at first but it worked quite well. I tried something totally new. I had sesame linguine and some spinach asago chicken sausage that I had to get rid of. I also saltade asparagus and chopped in small pieces. I did not mix just placed together after. Cocoction was a hit in my house everyone loved. Added Salt and pepper fresh Garlic a few sprigs of curled & italian parsley as well as shreaded Aged Parm Cheese. Will try a touch of Asago next time.

Boudreaux's Zydeco Stomp Gumbo

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2008
Wow this was great I even was missing several things and had to sub. I was looking for something to use my leftovers from the week. I can’t wait to make this with everything I will tell my substitutions for those who are in the mood for gumbo but didn’t have everything. I doubled the chicken then I boiled chicken and sausage with all the left over chopping from the veges to make broth. The leek tops help a lot. I had no celery =( so I added some celery salt and a vege Bouillon cube. I used one large can diced tomatoes and all the peppers in the house a variety of medium and hot peppers. I was short on Cajun seasoning so I added file powder. I also used the medium sized shrimp. Mine was soupy I could almost but some orzo pasta and make Cajun soup. I used Gluten Free flour mixture may not work as good. No chili peppers and dried red pepper flakes that I grew and dried. The only thing I will do next time I like mine thicker I will only with 2 quarts of broth. As this makes a lot have some freezing containers ready.

Blueberry Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2008
I adapted this recipe to fit a bread pudding recipe it actually wanted me to put plan blueberries and strawberries on my bread pudding. =( So I doubled this one with 2ea cups blueberries and strawberries. I cooked the strawberries down until they were part of the syrup just a nice flavor. I am allergic to oranges so I used pomegranate, blueberry juice and vanilla instead of almonds. This was so good on my pudding =) I have use the regular recipe on other things both ways is great.

Cheesy Italian Tortellini

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2008
I rated this a 5 with changes. I am allergic to beef and pork =( I used chicken cooked in italian seasoning. Tomato sause plan kind and diced tomatos. Add the usual oregano, pinch of rosmary, minced garlic bay leaf touch of sugar. I don't measure seasoning but that is close. Did not have time to slow cook so I boiled the tortelli and precooked sause. Then added doubled blend of cheese half in and half on top and put it in the oven on 350 for 20-30 depending on cheese type. I guess this is no longer the recipe I started with but it used most of my leftovers.

Best of the Best Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2008
I gave this recipe three stars for the following reasons. The crown didn't pop like I like them. May be due to my hot oven but I had the top brown quickly in the center of the oven. They didn't hold together very well. They were like McDonalds biscuits fine until you take a bite then they fall apart. I did not use cups and the popped right out of the pan I did use criso. I will keep searching for the best one. With the flavor of these but pretty. I did see some recommendations however the recipe as it is was only a 3.
