Mid-Eastern Chicken Thighs

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2014
Excellent recipe. I did season the thighs with salt and pepper along with the curry and garam masala. I used hot curry powder. After the 20 mins, I removed the thighs and covered with foil to keep warm. Then put the heat on high and added 1/3 cup heavy cream and reduced to a thick sauce. Then melted in a tablespoon of butter. Delicious! This recipe probably would also work well with pounded chicken breasts. Thanks for sharing a great recipe!

Simple BBQ Ribs

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2013
Followed the recipe exactly and it turned out perfect! The recipe didn't specify the exact amount of time to boil, so I boiled mine for one hour and then let them sit in the liquid until I was ready to bake them (about another hour). I strained the liquid and boiled potatoes in it. WOW, best flavored mashed potatoes ever!

Chef John's Braised Red Cabbage

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2013
The recipe was simple. I did not add sugar. Husband and I did not care for the caraway seed in this. Next time, I will omit the caraway seed and add some sliced onions. Overall, not a bad recipe.

With more plums, this would be a 5 star recipe.

Italian Style Pot Roast

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2013
Excellent! Served it over spaghetti squash. I didn't have any mushrooms but did not miss them. I used 2 egg yolks to thicken instead of corn starch. Probably could have used 3. Husband loved it and said this is the best pot roast ever.

Fried Cabbage with Bacon, Onion, and Garlic

This is one of my favorite side dishes on this site! VERY delicious! I always follow the recipe as is, oh, except for the salt; I use less. I use the "to taste" part! :)

Pineapple Beef Stir-Fry

Very delicious! I didn't have fresh cilantro so I used dried. Also didn't have green chilies so I added red pepper flakes. Very good recipe! Thanks.

Steamed Radishes

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2012
WOW! was the first word out of my mouth when I tasted one. The radish tasted like a slightly spicy cauliflower. Very good! I used my Tupperware steamer in the microwave and it took the 8 mins as the recipe stated. I checked them at 3 min intervals twice and then just did 2 more minutes. Some of the radishes were done at 6 mins, but I just left them in the steamer. I normally do not eat radishes, but I received 6 1lb bags for free so I thought I try to do something with them. This is it! I will definitely be eating more radishes and will need to plant some in my garden!

Banana Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2012
This was very good! I do not like banana flavored things, so I used vanilla pudding instead of banana. Some reviewers said they couldn't taste the cream cheese, so I used an 8 oz package and I still couldn't taste the cream cheese but that doesn't really matter to me as I wanted to use the whole 8 oz package as not to have 5 ozs of cream cheese left rotting in the frig. :) Also some reviewers said it was too runny. The recipe says mix until thoroughly combined, but it should say until thickened. You have to mix the pudding, cream cheese, and milk at a high speed until it thickens. (Well, slow at first so it doesn't fly all over the place!) I had to use more than 5 bananas as mine were small bananas. So make sure you have a lot of bananas on hand in case you need more. Some reviewers said that they put lemon juice on the bananas that were going inside the pie, but I didn't and I didn't have a problem with them browning, even after a day or two, they didn't brown. I put strawberries on top as a garnish just for color. I think this would be good with chocolate pudding or even maybe chocolate cool whip. I will be making this often!

Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2012
These were delicious deviled eggs! The only thing I did different was l left out the sugar and I forgot to put in the salt. But I didn't miss the salt. The filling was very creamy and eggy tasting. I don't like some recipes where there is too much mayo taste and other things. These were perfect for my taste! This will be my go to recipe for deviled eggs. All others are being deleted from my folder!

Grandma's Blueberry Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2012
This pie was easy and delicious. I used the Pillsbury crusts you roll out and made the lattice top which was easier than I thought it would be. I followed the recipe exactly and I didn't think it was too sweet and I don't eat much sugar. Now that I think of it, I believe I had more blueberries than three cups...I used whatever comes in two pints, about 4 cups (so I didn't really follow the recipe exactly). But anyways, this is a GREAT recipe and it will be the only blueberry pie recipe I will make!

Sorta Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2012
Delicious! Maybe need to season the meat before browning it. Other than that, it was very good. Update - 4/27/12 - Made this again for dinner and I seasoned the meat with garlic powder, salt, and pepper prior to flouring. Perfect meal! Thanks for the easy recipe!

Slow Cooker Balsamic Beef and Onions

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2012
The recipe called for it to cook for 6 hours on high. I thought that was extreme for a 1 1/2 lb roast so I cooked my 2 lb roast on low for 7 hours and it turned out very dry. If I would have cooked it for 6 hours on high, I think it would have turned into a rock. The liquid tasted good though.

French Toast Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2012
The only change I made was 2 cups milk instead of 3 as my family likes eggy french toast. It was very delicious! The house smelled absolutely heavenly! My grocery store didn't have Pepperidge Farm Cinn. bread but it had Cinnabon Cinn. bread and it had a lot of cinnamon flavor. Nothing needed to be added. So if your grocery store has Cinnabon brand, I highly recommend it. Served with pure maple syrup.

Runza Burritos International

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2009
I made this exactly as written. It was very good. A little "nippy" due to the red pepper flakes. My husband suggested that the next time I make this, the meat needs to be seasoned...so I will add a little salt and maybe onion powder or garlic powder when browing the meat. Thanks for the great recipe. It was easy to make and I will definately make this over and over.
