Hazel's Meatballs

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2013
Everybody in the family liked it. I baked the meatballs for awhile and drained the grease before adding the sauce.

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2012
Left out the water and doubled the butter, which I cut into small pieces and mixed with my hands rather than melting. Also halved the apple part and and put the crust in the freezer while I prepared the apples. Substituted old fashioned oats. Very good!

I used 2 cups of cheese and added some black beans. I also made three layers of tortillas. Easy recipe!

Ham and Rice Bake

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2011
I'm glad I doubled the recipe. I used brown rice, sharp cheddar, cream of mushroom and frozen brocolli. My husband thought peas would have been better. We all thought this was pretty good, except my 3 year old wouldn't try it.

Ham Tetrazzini

Certainly not fancy, but good for a quick weeknight dinner. Next time I'll add some peas instead of the parsley.

Chicken Enchiladas V

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2010
We didn't care for the sauce. I'm not usually a snob about canned soup but this tasted really processed. Sorry.

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2010
Really good and really easy! I followed the recipe exactly except I put the chicken breasts in frozen. After 7 1/2 hours I shredded the chicken and added the last two ingredients. Even my husband who doesn't care for cream cheese liked this one. I served over egg noodles but rice would be great too!

Herb Rubbed Sirloin Tip Roast

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2010
Needed 1 hour and 15 minutes for medium rare. I also let it come to room temp before putting it in the oven. Used the leftovers for fajitas.

Husband liked it but I thought the sauce was too sweet.

Baked Ravioli

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2010
You can make this REALLY fast and easy by using jarred sauce and putting the frozen ravioli right into the oven. I used 2 jars of sauce, 1 1/2 packages of ravioli, covered it in foil and increased the baking time (I think close to 50 minutes) I uncovered for the last 10 minutes and topped with the cheese. Thanks so much for a great idea!

Caramelized Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2010
Made this according to Meredith's review except I substituted corn syrup for most of the honey. Poured it over drumsticks that I baked for 50 minutes and served the sauce over rice. My husband and I both liked it.

Cheddar Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2010
Definitely mild tasting. Tried to jazz it up with a couple of tablespoons of onion soup mix and some frozen brocolli but it still was a little bland. Not bad though. Just not amazing.

Shrimp Fettuccine Alfredo

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2010
Sooo good. At the suggestion of others we used half the noodles and waited to add the shrimp. We thought the sauce was going to be too thin but once we tossed the pasta in it was perfect.

Awesome Roast Beef

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2009
My husband loved this one but I changed it a little. Instead of the broth I put in one packet of onion soup mix and one can of water. When the roast was done I thickened the juice with corn starch to make gravy. Thanks for the recipe!

Great to free up oven space but my crockpot really dried this out. Next time I'll try adding a cup of milk.

Ga! Burned mine, but that obviously wasn't the fault of the recipe. Luckily I used foil ans spray. The corner I had was good!

One-Dish Chicken, Vegetable and Rice Bake

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2009
I subbed 3/4 cup regular long-grain rice and added a little seasoning salt and garlic powder because that's all I had. I also just used frozen brocolli since that's what we like. Next time, I'll use milk instead of water and add a little sour cream if I have it. ***The second time I used brown rice, chicken broth instead of water, cream of chicken with herbs soup, and a little sour cream. Very flexible recipe!
