I LOVE allrecipes.com and Food Network. I really think they have helped many people become better cooks. Both have increased my confidence level and made it more fun to eat at home, rather than go out.
My favorite things to cook
I love to experiment and attempt to cook delicious things I've eaten in restaurants or seen on TV. I also enjoy cooking things that my grandmother has passed on to me. There aren't recipes for them, it's all in our heads.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We have family dinner with my Dad, sister, grandparents and our spouses every other Tuesday, in addition to holidays. Each time we get together, even though the kitchen is the size of a closet, my grandmother, sisters, dad and I all work together to prepare the meal that we will sit down and enjoy together.
My cooking triumphs
My hugest cooking triumph was the first time I cooked a piece of meat and my husband looked at me and said, "Honey, that's better than any meat I've ever cooked! I think that your skills have surpassed mine now!" I had been a vegetarian when I first started learning to cook, so that is not something that I had experience cooking when we married.
I also had Thanksgiving at my house this past year and it was amazing! We all had such a good time and all the food was perfect.
My cooking tragedies
Holiday cooking! Every time I attempt to broaden my families food horizon and expose them to another culture's cuisine they turn their nose up at it. We always tried to buy higher end food items, but we have since given up.
