Lemon Cake with Lemon Filling and Lemon Butter Frosting

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2009
I followed another review that said to double the icing and do a crumb layer or icing. EXCELLENT TIP! Loved that. Didn't like the cake sliding apart or the taste of the white cake. I'd do this again, but look for a better 'cake' recipe. Icing and lemon curd were fantastic though! A

Restaurant-Quality Maple Oatmeal Scones

These are the best Maple Oat Scones I've found so far. I'm looking fwd to messing with the ingredients to see if I can get closer to the Starbucks Maple Oat Nut Scone.

Guinness® and Chocolate Cheesecake

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2009
Was a big hit. I made it for my Dad's birthday and he LOVED it! Actually everyone but me loved it. I think it's b/c I really don't like the taste of Guinness. I'll make it again for everyone else again! Don't be worried about the "too much liquid". It turned out very similar to the Eggnog Cheesecake also on this site. Bon Chance! A

Cottage Cheese Pancakes

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2009
These are pretty good. As a low carb pancake option they are great. I'm thinking next time I'll use lowfat cottage cheese, use 1 egg and 2 eggwhites just to lower the fat content. Interesting anyhow.

Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2009
It was ok. Think I should have cooked it for only 25min. But my oven is a little wacky. Turned out fine, just don't know what all the fuss is about. Allison

The Best Unbaked Cherry Cheesecake Ever

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2008
It's pretty good. I would like a thinner but firmer crust. Next time I'll add more butter. I used fresh strawberries instead of cherry pie filling. For a no bake cheesecake - it was really good.

Southwestern Chicken Lasagna

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2008
This is a fantastic recipe. I did make a few adjustments. 1)I poached the chicken first then shredded. 2)1 can of tomato sauce was 1.5 cups and the 2nd can I had was just as big so I improvised by using 1 cup of Southwestern Salsa and didn't add the fresh salsa. 3)I added a can of black beans. I think I might add corn next time as well. Super easy, super fun, super yummy. I highly recommend! A

Elizabeth's Extreme Chocolate Lover's Cake

Reviewed: May 13, 2008
The cake does come out a little dry, but I noticed that the ganache on the bottom layer sealed the cake and kept it moist. I couldn't taste it on the cake, however my mom says she did the 2nd day. She loves ganache and would have been happy w/just ganache and not the butter cream icing - which I loved. There is too much icing over all, but next time I think I'll slice each cake in 1/2 so that I have 4 layers to ice. It's a lot of work but it's worth it. I made it for mother's day/my mom's birthday and she loved it! Give it try! A

Chocolate Scotch Whiskey Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2008
Fan-flipp'n-tastic! Even with all my efforts to ruin it. I made the cake on Monday night, took it to work tuesday left it in the work fridge all day and forgot to pick it up before driving to my parents house for my Dad's bday dinner. Arrgh! I then proceeded to forget it @ work wednesday night, so on thursday night I took it to Deb's house for dinner. I made ganache since I hadn't iced it w/the icing suggested in the recipe. Made the icing - it seemed wrong so I didn't use it. Anyhow I made the ganache (http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Chocolate-Ganache/Detail.aspx?prop31=4) but omitted the dark rum, thinking it would save this old dried out cake. Well this cake didn't need saving! It was fantastic! And the ganache was an excellent addition. Next time I will either mash up or puree the raisons or leave them out all together. We all agreed they were weird in the cake.

Popovers

They came out really crusty and hard on the outside. Not what I'm used to w/popovers. A few had the indentation in the center...Will try again incase it's something I did.

White Wine and Garlic Dream Cream

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2008
My 2nd time making it I decided to use a larger pan so there was more surface for evaporation. This unfortunately meant the wine almost completely evaporated, but mixing it in w/the cream did make for an incredible flavour. I also doubled the amount of cream b/c of the lack of wine left in the pan. Fabulous.

Spinach Brownies

Fantastic! This turned out perfectly and I'll make it again. I had a couple of modifications: I used chopped frozen spinach and skipped precooking the raw spinach. And I used Monterey Jack Cheese since that's what I had. It's easy, yummy and fantastic when it's cold! A

Chocolate Ganache

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2008
So simple. Although I enjoyed the directions from the Martha Stewart recipe better. For instance Bittersweet Chocolate or semisweet may be used for this recipe. Also once you pour the hot cream over the chocolate bits let it stand for 10 minutes. Then stir until combined. So easy and so good! Added it to my perfect Brownie recipe. Fabulous!
