Summer Squash Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2010
I made several modifications in making this recipe-cut the sugar to 1 1/2 c, using half white and half brown sugar, I also used 1/2 whole wheat flour and 1/2 AP Flour as well as using 1/2 unsweetened apple sauce in place of 1/2 the oil (all attempts at making the recipe a bit healthier!) I wish that I would have cut the nutmeg down to 1tsp, as it was a bit overpowering, and I like nutmeg! Next time I may add a 1/2 tsp of salt or so, just seemed like something was missing. I never made the recipe 'as is', so my rating is for the final product after the modifications!

White Bean Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2010
This recipe is great! I love the burst of flavor the cinnamon adds. I cut back a bit on the cumin, as my husband isn't a fan, but if it were up to me, I would stick with the recipe. I also cut back a bit on the chili powder for the kids sake...again, I would leave it be, but I had to adjust for everyones taste. Thanks for such a great recipe!

Best Burgers Ever

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2010
I had ground turkey that I wanted to make burgers with, but just not run-of-the-mill, so I wondered about using garam masala, and up popped this recipe during my search. Low and behold, it works GREAT with ground turkey! Use 1 egg...not just the tablespoon it calls for. I also added some bread crumbs, as turkey has a WAY different consistency than lamb and it needed it. Also added a bit of salt. Thanks for such a great recipe!

Polish Cabbage Noodles

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2010
in reading other reviews, I added a bit to it...fried Turkey Keilbasa (SP?) and some little slices of turkey bacon, removed, then added the butter, onion and cabbage. I splashed on some AC vinegar (1tsp maybe?), sprinkled some caraway seeds, put a dash of paprika and sauteed until the cabbage was tender-ish (I like a little crunch)- I put the keilbasa/bacon mixure back in and warmed it all up and served it next to the buttered noodles, so others (like my sometimes picky kids) could decide if they wanted to mix it or not. Thanks for the recipe!

Melt In Your Mouth Pork Chops

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2009
Upon reading the other reviews, I decided to add a 3/4 of a 20oz can of crushed pinapple w/ the juice and only added 2/3 of the soy (low sodium) and teriyaki sauce that was called for. I browned the pork chops and placed all ingredients in the slow cooker. I thickened the sauce when the chops were done with a cornstarch slurry, served over brown rice and topped with the remaining pinapple left in the can, I also served with shelled soybeans. I feel the sweetness to balance out the salty in this dish is a MUST! Very good dish after tweaking, I fear it might be too salty otherwise.

No Bake Cookies V

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2008
Eco-friendly and time saver idea - I doled out my no bake cookies on silicon baking mats which were on top o wire cooling racks. This saved time in cooling, and nothing to throw away! I also used real butter, stirred constantly throughout cooking, used creamy peanut butter, and 3 1/2 C oats. Turned out much better....

Cheddar Bacon Hamburgers

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2011
I made a few modifications, because I didn't have the horseradish, so I put A-1 as another reviewer suggested. I would like to try it as the original recipe writes, but wanted to review it, as the base for the recipe is STELLAR! It was a hit for the whole family!

Ciabatta Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2007
Really good, except for the airpockets were not as large as I had thought they'd be. OH! and for those that haven't figured it out..the 13X14 in loaf..uh..TYPO!! It is supposed to read 3X14. We did not have a functioning spray bottle, so we did not 'spritz'...but I do think that it is a must..I will have to go and get one before we make this bread again.

Seven Layer Magic Cookie Bars

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2009
I've been making this recipe for YEARS! It's a holiday favorite to give to family and friends. I do recommend using SALTED butter, as it compliments the sweetness all the other ingredients. I only had unsalted and realized that was the only thing missing from the cookie!

Addictive Sweet Potato Burritos

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2007
I decided to go with what some of the other reviews said, and used BLACK beans instead of kidney. I think that it was FOR SURE the right thing to do. Add more cayenne if you like it spicier. I put sour cream, chopped green onions and cilantro on the side for other to use as they pleased..oh yes, and also some fresh salsa..MMM..KEEPER! Thanks :)

Whole Wheat Snickerdoodles I

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2009
These are very good whole wheat cookies, but in my opinion, they are not very reminiscent of the true Snickerdoodle. I will probably make again just because they were so yummy! Thanks for the recipe :)
