Baked Seafood Au Gratin

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2007
Really is a versatile recipe. Used 2% milk as that is all I had on hand, but otherwise didn't change a thing. Very yummy, but also very rich! Couldn't eat a lot of it at a time, and ended up putting the rest in the fridge for leftovers.

Taco in a Bag

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2007
With the high caloric factor, these are great for a treat every once in a while. Made 20 of these individually for a family/friends picnic, and they were devoured by kids and adults alike. A definite success, and I will be making this again. Thanks for sharing Jennifer!

Cheesy Pizza Fondue

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2007
This stuff certainly is addictive. Yet another thing I like to make when the guys come over, or just for the occasional time when I get to snack at home ;). Try adding chopped pepperoni to the fondue.

Red Pepper Biscuits

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2007
A new take on the classic Bay Biscuit. We love these with soup, they are just so different, yet really yummy with the addition of heat in the chili pepper flakes. Next time I will try adding garlic powder as I imagine they would be quite good!

Baked Milk Fish

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2007
Even with the lemon pepper in there, we found this dish to be extremely bland. Not to mention gross - milk and codfish just do not mix. Admittedly, I felt quite sick after I ate this.

Ribollita (Reboiled Italian Cabbage Soup)

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2007
Very filling soup! Similar to the one I had in Tuscany, minus the canned tomatoes which I left out as personal preference. Don't cook for too long or else the cabbage goes mushy and tasteless, and choose stale bread -soaked in cold water for a day or two- for the best results. A wonderful fall or winter soup that doesn't disappoint. Thanks for sharing Josie!

Blender Hollandaise Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2007
Terrific served over poached salmon or eggs benedict. The fact that it is cheap, quick and easy makes it a definite keeper.

Ham and Pineapple Fried Sandwiches

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2007
This was rather disgusting, and not kid friendly as my results turned out to be. Made a plate of these for my boyfriend's 10 yr. old sister's birthday party. A few bites were missing from a couple, but most were left untouched. Tried one myself and I can see why. Ham and pineapple are better suited for pizza, not french toast.

Mediterranean Greek Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2007
This definitely makes a lot. We left out the sundried tomatoes as a personal preference and it was quite good, just as Greek salad should be. However, all that feta made the salad itself slightly salty, I think I will cut down on it next time.

Easy Bean Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2007
Yet another recipe that seem to bring the guys around during sports seasons! Quick, cheap, and easy to make, although I end up substituting serving the French dressing for Italian and put the salsa on the side. The amount of beans called for makes loads of salad, and it tastes even better the next day once all of the beans have marinated!

Chicken Pot Pie III

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2007
Not a showstopper; quite bland, and perhaps using the frozen veggies was my mistake. They turned limp and soggy inside of my pie. I actually prefer the frozen pies and will pass on this recipe next time! Sure, it was cheap and easy, but not at all delicious.

Fried Rice II

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2007
The chicken bouillion cubes do make this dish a little salty, but that's just what is needed to add to an otherwise bland dish. The veggies don't really do anything for it, and the soy sauce only adds to the saltiness level. Not for those who are trying to keep their sodium levels low, or just prefer take-out instead. We weren't really impressed.

Feta Shrimp Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2007
When making this, I admittedly cheated and used canned plum tomatoes, however, it probably didn't taste much different. This really was quite good, if not a little bit fishy. The amount of clam juice was a bit too much for me, but otherwise, the shrimp and feta complimented each other nicely. Thanks for sharing, Catherine.

Sushi Roll

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2007
A good take on the California Roll recipe. Left out the pickled ginger due to personal preferences, but otherwise everything was really yummy! Best served with Wasabi.

Easy Liver Pate II

We just weren't crazy about this. Personally, I've had better from the deli. Waste of money and ingredients.

Mango Salsa

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2007
I tweaked this a bit, and it turned out okay, I guess. Substituted the scallions for actual onion, and used canned jalapenos as I could not find fresh - and they are probably cheaper. Served with tortilla corn chips, with mixed reviews.

Sharktooth Pasta

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2007
Quick and easy, definitely kid friendly. This doubles as a bit of a macaroni and cheese, just with bowties. I doubled the amount of cream and chicken soup that it called for, and it still turned out okay. Slightly bland though, so try grating some really sharp cheese over the top, and spice up with salt and pepper.

Beer Butt Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2007
I love this !! It helps to marinate the outside first as it makes the chicken tastier, just with barbeque sauce, ranch dressing, etc. Also, you don't need to use beer for the main base; it's just for moisture. Cola and orange juice work just as well from experience, even though beer tastes the best.

Firecracker Burgers

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2007
My boyfriend requests these all the time in the summer! He loves spicy burgers, and this one really seemed to hit it home. Because of this, I up the amount of green chiles -because he likes it hot-, and I accompany them with the chipotle mayo from this site.

Coconut Ice

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2007
As per other reviews, I used unsweetened flaked coconut in mine and substituted cherry berry flavouring too for the bottom layer, and they turned out fine. They are very pretty to look at -my bottom layer turned a nice light pink colour-, even though my boyfriend was not fond of them, but he doesn't like coconut. Not sure if I will be making them again, but thanks for sharing anyways, Emma.
