Jo's Rosemary Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2007
I could have never imagined how easy this was. Really yummy too, the kind of bread you can serve with anything and still have it taste delicious. I increased amount of rosemary, and added in a pinch of thyme too. First time using the new breadmaker a definite success, and I will be making this one again. Thanks for sharing, Jo!

Fried Gorgonzola Olives

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2007
I love gorgonzola cheese and olives seperately, but after trying this, I discovered that I don't like them combined.

Fried Onion Rings

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2007
These were delicious - made these for the guys on game night with burgers, and not a single one was left over for me. Technically, I guess I could say this review is my boyfriends, he raved about them and immediately found beer was the secret ingredient. Will be making them again so I can actually try some next time!

Heather's Cilantro, Black Bean, and Corn Salsa

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2007
Couldn't get canned white and yellow corn seperately, so I bought two cans of niblets and threw 'em in, also had to omit the pepper due to an allergy. This was pretty good though, a refreshing summer salsa that goes great with tortilla chips, we've even put it in tacos! Increase the amount of cilantro.

Yum-Yum Corn

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2007
This makes a lot!! Luckily we found it could freeze and refrigerate well, and it was definitely delicious. The garlic powder set it apart from normal creamed corn...although I did add a dash of paprika for even more spice. This is a side dish that goes well with anything, and you'd never get tired of it. Thanks for the submission!

Asian Avocado

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2007
We really enjoyed this, a delicious change to the usual boring, salted avocado. I increased the amount of soy sauce for extra flavour, and left out the ginger as a personal preference. Ate most of this as is, the rest I chopped up and invented a sort of salad with cold ramen noodles and vegetables. Delicious!

Potato Beef Croquettes

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2007
These are wonderful as a side dish, or snack..the healthier equivalent to a tater tot. The meat is also another nice touch, and holds the croquettes together well. These were even better the next day, with various dips. Thanks for sharing, Violet!

Seafood Enchiladas

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2007
These are heavenly! Substituted imitation crabmeat for fresh because I couldn't find any, and it still turned out delicious. Even the people in my family who supposedly hate shellfish loved it! Good to make for a crowd too, and there were no leftovers. This is a definite keeper.

Pumpkin Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2007
If you puree too much, the entire thing turns mushy. So, I set some pumpkin aside and pureed that, then cubed the rest and all other veggies and tossed them in. That much nutmeg was a little unnecessary, so we left it out. Overall recipe still unimpressive, don't think I'll be making this again.

Yummy Potato Skins

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2007
Surprisingly, they were bland...even with loads of Zesty Italian poured over top..and dipped in ranch dressing with green onions afterwards. Nor were they very crispy. My end verdict? Not so yummy after all, I don't recommend them.

Delectable Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2007
I love deviled eggs, but didn't enjoy this recipe much. The barbeque seasoning kind of killed it for me, and the green olives were unneccesary. I also recommend using fresh olives if you're going to add them in. Followed this recipe perfectly, and wasn't happy. My guests weren't either.

Garlic Butter

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2007
Simple, easy, and effective. The Italian seasoning is what we found sets this recipe apart from other garlic butter recipes, it's delicious on toast, making a sort of 'garlic bread', and if thickened, I thought it made a great pasta sauce.

Best Lemonade Ever

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2007
Perfect for a summer day! Everyone enjoyed this lemonade that I brought to a picnic, and it is really thirst quenching. Still perhaps a little tangy even with all that sugar, but good nonetheless. Really easy to make, I even made another pitcher on the spot. Garnish with fresh lemon slices and you have an excellent summer cooler that is popular with kids and adults alike.

Gazpacho II

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2007
Very refreshing, although thick. Substitued the pimentos for jalapenos as we have an allergy in the family, and it turned out great. So easy since you don't need to cook anything but the croutons, and it makes enough to be frozen easily. I found this to be even more delicious the next day

Bourbon Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2007
Although there is a little too much bourbon in this and it kind of wrecked the taste for us, the soy sauce kind of makes up for it. Nothing like you'd have in a restaurant though..serve with a side dish that would distract from the taste of the bourbon.

Napa Cabbage Noodle Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2007
This was quite good, except perhaps the dressing was perhaps a little too sweet. Other than that, no problems! Added extra veggies as per another reviewer (shredded jicama and carrot) and there was nothing left in the bowl afterwards!

Crab Ceviche

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2007
Avocado was an interesting addition as per the other reviewers, and it turned out delicious! Also, subbed. the serranos -too spicy for me- for jalapenos and it still turned out excellent. Great recipe, I wouldn't change anything else! We served this with shredded fried tortilla pieces, and nothing was left!!

Hummus III

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2007
Difficult as it was to find the tahini, it totally makes the dish. This was great for one, or for a crowd!! Although, it could have done without the parsley garnish...I'll omit that next time. Also upped the amount of chick peas (garbanzos) to make even more, and served with crudites and pita bread. I will definitely be making this again.

American Potato Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2007
Overall quite good! However, I tweaked it a bit (substituted the green pepper for chopped radish and added a little bit of prepared mustard and spices to modify it closer to a family recipe). Without these, I would imagine the salad would be quite bland. The eggs were also a bit too much, which earns the 4 star review, otherwise it would be a 5 if I didn't need to tweak it so much.

Zucchini Blossom a la Feta

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2007
The zucchini blossoms were hard to find, but were definitely well worth it! I doubled the amount, and saved the rest...they make a delicious snack dipped in ranch or Greek dressing. The feta makes this dish, I think, and these will probably be popular with a crowd. Will be making these again!
