Naan

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2007
Warning: too much yeast can result in air pockets, and some not so fluffy naan bread. I have had naan before in Indian restaurants, and tried to recreate it from this recipe at home. Very delicious bread, sure, but mine ended up being flat and slightly gooey. Shall give this another attempt, though.

Greek Penne and Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2007
This was fantastic. As a lover of both Greek food and pasta, I knew it was going to be a hit, and sure enough, I was right. Didn't have artichoke hearts, but sure enough I found some sundried tomatoes in a jar and used those instead of the regular tomatoes, and added in a can of pitted black olives for that extra Greek feel. Try adding a marinade (such as Paul Prudhomme's Poultry Magic) to the chicken too for a bit of extra flavour!

Cajun Burgers

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2007
This was very salty, and like other reviewers have said, I could've definitely done without that extra tablespoon of Cajun seasoning. My boyfriend, who loves both burgers and chipotle mayo enjoyed these and is still requesting I make them again...I didn't enjoy these as much. Thanks anyways though, Pam.

Garden Fresh Tomato Soup

Reviewed: May 31, 2007
Much better than the stuff from the can!! I liked the nice redness to it, and the flavours blended well. Delicious served with the simple grilled cheese sandwich. For those more adventurous, and since we're garlic lovers here, try doubling the amount of garlic, or even putting a bit of chicken bouillion in there too :)

Strawberry Lemon Muffins

Reviewed: May 31, 2007
I have made these muffins twice now, and there are two equally good variations of them. The original strawberry lemon, and blueberry orange. (substitute blueberries for strawberries, and orange juice for lemon juice), grate a little bit of zest to go over the top. Made a batch of these for my friend for her birthday too, and she really enjoyed them -even if they were a little burnt-. I can also see these being a big hit with kids too.

Broccoli Bites

Reviewed: May 31, 2007
I myself am not a big fan of broccoli...but this recipe sure got me into eating it! I suffer from low iron intake, and my doctor was definitely pleased when she found out that I was eating more green vegetables. We didn't have cheddar cheese on hand, so I grated up half a block of marble, and they still turned out well! Thank you for sharing, Kristen!

Smoked Salmon Cheesecake

Reviewed: May 31, 2007
Wasn't very fond of this, maybe it was just me. I do like smoked salmon and cream cheese on bagels, but blending them together like this, the texture wasn't very appealing to me. I would not recommend.

Marinated Pork Strips

Good, but overall nothing special to report. Not sure if I will make these again.

Garlic Croutons

Reviewed: May 30, 2007
These are awesome. Way better than the stuff from the bag!! I made an entire batch last weekend; some went into salads, others on top of soup, and the rest...well, I ate them just by themselves! A good addition to anything, or just fine on their own. Try adding some garlic powder and paprika to them too.

Onion Rice Pilaf

Reviewed: May 29, 2007
I don't understand all of the star reviews. We were not impressed with this dish, it was a little too bland for all of our likings.

Canned Rueben

Reviewed: May 29, 2007
Just an average dish, we probably would have preferred it without the pasta or sauerkraut.

Easy Manicotti Florentine

Reviewed: May 29, 2007
Manicotti...so yummy. This recipe would be really good with any other kind of stuffed pasta (e.g. ravioli, agnolotti, etc.) This has easily become one of my favourites, definitely a repeat.

Bubble 'n' Squeak

Reviewed: May 29, 2007
My boyfriend says this reminds him of home in England. I had never heard of Bubble and Squeak until his family introduced it to me, and though I just had to give it a try. It's now one of my ultimate comfort foods, and makes a delicious meal for lunch or dinner.

Rice A Roni™ Salad

This recipe is fabulous as is. Very usual to have a rice salad, this was our first time trying one, and we were all very impressed! A yummy summer salad, that is sure to accompany us to parties in years to come. Thanks for sharing

Caramel Apple Pork Chops

Reviewed: May 29, 2007
Caramel and pork chops? A little red flag was going up when I was making this, and I should've paid more attention to it. The sauce for me ended up too runny -although I do like pork chops with apples, or applesauce-; caramel sauce should be thick.

Beef Tips and Noodles

So yummy, so easy. I recommend using fresh mushrooms instead of canned ones, and making this in the Crock Pot to achieve a better taste. Try adding in a couple pinches of garlic powder for something different.

Toad In a Hole

Reviewed: May 29, 2007
Mixed reviews over here...my boyfriend, who is British, loved these..I didn't very much. The toast ended up going soggy on me, therefore defeating the whole definition of 'toast'. It is a cute recipe though.

African Peanut Soup

Reviewed: May 29, 2007
I was a little apprehensive about putting peanut butter in a soup, but we overall enjoyed this. Try using smooth peanut butter, it's just as good.

Savory Shrimp over Wild Rice

Reviewed: May 29, 2007
So it's a little bit time-consuming to make the rice, but overall, this recipe is the best! Very similar to a shrimp recipe I have, only you add in a couple of green onions -chopped-, a bottle of Kraft Italian salad dressing -it goes right in the pan with the shrimp-, and top with freshly grated parmesan cheese. Really good over pasta too, thanks for sharing this variation.
