Homemade Smoked Almonds

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2007
I agree - just okay. My tasters agreed that the store bought are better, although, these are probably much better for you!

Ukrainian Dill and Garlic Pickles

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2007
I am a huge pickle fan, but these were way to salty for me. We tried them on day 5. My pickle loving kids didn't like them either. I think we have to stick with Claussen. Thanks anyway.

Chicken Chimichangas with Green Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2007
These were pretty good, but they were a bit too cheesy. I wish that I would have seen the other reviews that recommended cutting the cream cheese in half before I made this. I think that I would have liked them better. They were, however, pretty easy to prepare. I used a rotisserie chicken. Served with sour cream and salsa.

Fettuccini Tomato Rustica II

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2007
My husband and I liked this recipe. The kids did not care for it, but, they think that chicken nuggets are the best food in the world. I used only 1/4 cup oil added to the cheese mixture. Also, I pounded my chicken breasts and then fried them whole in the olive oil seasoned with salt pepper and garlic salt. After cooled, I sliced them for a nice tender chunk of chicken. Serve with grated romano cheese and fresh cracked pepper. Thanks for the recipe.

Best Teriyaki Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2007
I liked this recipe. It was nice and thick and had a good flavor. Don't be afraid of the habanero. It does not make the sauce too hot. We made bonsai burgers with this sauce. Yum! I might cut back just a pinch on the ginger next time. But, there will definitely be a next time! Thanks for the recipe!

Rico's Passionate Pink Honey Lemonade

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2007
This lemonade tasted too sour the day I made it, but sweetened up after two days. I kept the orange slices and strawberries in the pitcher. We liked it better after a few days. That tells me that maybe we should add some orange juice to the recipe and perhaps cut down just a bit on the lemon.

Chewy Granola Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2007
I followed the advice of some other reviewers and made a few changes: Increased butter to 2/3 c; Increased honey to 3/4 c; decreased chocolate chips to 1/3 cup; Used 2 cups rice crispies and 2.5 cups quick oats. These are awesome! I have tried multiple variations: added peanut butter chips once. My favorite variation was to substitute dried dates for the chocolate chips and add cinnamon and nutmeg. This recipe is very fun to play with. A consistent crowd pleaser. Thanks for the recipe!!

Apple Pie Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2007
This looked and smelled wonderful. The crust was very very nice, both in flavor and texture, but the filling was dry. I used gala apples, sliced thin as directed. Perhaps thicker wedges would have held the moisture better. This was my only complaint. The flavor was nice.

Doc's Best Beef Jerky

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2007
This is a nice alternative to the ground beef recipe the dehydrator came with. I'll definitely make this again, possibly with larger strips of meat. Mine marinated for 8 hours and was fairly tender. The flavor was excellent. I'll try marinating over night next time. Thanks for the recipe!

Double Chip Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2007
Not a crowd pleaser. I served these at a party with about 30 people, several of them kids. The kids didn't even like them very much. I won't make them again. Sorry.

Raspberry Inferno Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2007
I served this with hot wings at a birthday party. My son loved it, but it was not a crowd pleaser in general. It was a bit too hot for me. I might try it again with less jalapeño, and perhaps cut the jam in half, but add fresh pureed raspberries in the place of the reduced jam to produce a sauce that is a bit less sweet. Very interesting though. I recommend others give it a try.

This was very yummy - even left over! Next time I'll try it with some green chilies. Thanks for the recipe.

Heavenly Blueberry Smoothie

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2007
I really liked this recipe. I was a bit worried because flax seed meal and soy milk sounded like it might not contribute a lot of great taste. But, I am delighted to say that this healthy recipe also tastes great! Thank you for sharing!

Cheesy Potato and Corn Chowder

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2007
This soup was just okay. It was plenty thick, but needed a bit more flavor. I added a bit more cheese and freshly ground pepper. My kids wouldn't eat it. I won't make it again, but it appears that I am the minority.

April's Roasted Red Pepper Cheese Ball

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2007
I thought this was awesome. My "pinch" of cayenne was more like 1/4 teaspoon and I increased the garlic powder as well. I didn't use as much parsley as this called for. This makes a very nice cheese ball (or egg at Easter time). Everyone loved it! Thank you April!

These were very good, the peanut butter especially. I decorated the eggs with round colored sprinkles and they turned out very pretty too. Thanks for the recipe!

Easter Story Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2007
This was a very nice activity for our whole family. The cookies didn't taste all that great (I think I'll reduce the pecans by half next time), but it didn't matter. The beauty is in the symbolism. Thank you so much for posting this recipe. It was a wonderful way to remind ourselves, and our children, what Easter is really about.
