Raspberry Truffle Fudge

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2007
We thought this was just so-so. With such a high content of chocolate chips, it was very much like a big hunk of chocolate. I did use chambord liqueur, which did not provide as much raspberry flavor as I was expecting. I would agree with another reviewer - just make the top layer (and double the recipe). Also, perhaps using raspberry jam instead of liqueur would have enhanced the raspberry flavor.

Spiced Up Hot Cereal

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2007
I liked this recipe. I didn't give it 5 stars since it is not fantastic enough to win over non-cream of wheat eaters. My kids didn't like it. But, I'll make it again for myself! Thanks!

French Baguettes

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2007
A nice alternative to the grocery bakery in a pinch. Easy and tasty. Didn't give it 5 stars since it is not quite as good as bakery bread.

Vietnamese Sandwich

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2007
My husband and I liked this a lot. It was a bit too hot for the kids. Hubby liked enough to ask for the leftovers for lunch (quite unlike him). I marinated the meat ahead of time in lime and chili sauce and then did not drizzle the sandwich with lime sauce (last step). Also, based on other reviewers' suggestions, I let the cucumbers, red onion and some matchstick carrots marinate in rice vinegar and sugar while we barbecued the meat. I used just a bit of dried cilantro instead of fresh since I didn't have it on hand. The result was very nice. I'll definitely make it this way again.

Super-Simple, Super-Spicy Mongolian Beef

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2007
This was very good. I marinated the meat for 24 hours. I used 1 tsp of red pepper instead of 1 Tablespoon, which was perfect for the whole family. I also cooked up some matchstick carrots like another reviewer suggested. I did not use flank steak, I used sirloin instead. When cut thin, it does not need to cook long and remains quite tender.

Slippery Frog

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2007
I like this drink. It reminded me of a B52 with a hint of mint. I didn't have half and half so I used half whipping cream and half 2% milk. Tasted great! Thanks for the recipe.

Vodka Blueberry Liqueur

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2007
Wow! If I could give this 10 stars I would! This was sweet and wonderful. I'm a light weight and didn't feel that this was too strong. Guests raved over it. I'm running out today to buy more blueberries so that I can make a triple batch for our upcoming Halloween party. Try this one - you won't be disappointed! Thanks for the recipe!!!

Frozen Banana Margaritas

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2007
These were pretty good. One problem was that they didn't really turn out "frozen". In fact, 6 ice cubes wasn't even enough to make it really cold. I added lots and lots of ice, which for me was good since it mellowed the tequila a bit. I'd recommend using a frozen banana to help with this slight shortcoming. The flavor was nice though.

Root Beer Float Ice Cream

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2007
This was pretty good, very creamy. It really does taste just like a root beer float. I think that I'll try some with root beer (instead of vanilla ice cream) for a double wammy root beer float!

Greek Tzatziki

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2007
We found this a bit too lemony for a dip. I think it would be nice served with fish, however, given the lemon flavor. I agree with another reviewer who noted that the salt and pepper are a bit too heavy.

Aunt Anne's Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2007
A very tasty recipe. Like another reviewer suggested, I used brown sugar instead of white for the topping. It was gobbled up in no time! I have no desire to look for a different crumb cake recipe. This one is wonderful! Thanks for the recipe!!!

Peach Pork Picante

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2007
This was just okay. However, I think that the taste can easily vary based upon the salsa that you choose, so I'm planning on giving it another chance since so many other reviewers really liked it. I used 1.5 lb pork loin with one package of taco seasoning, which seemed like a good balance, and, the meat was very tender. I think that I may try this again with a different salsa. I just used Pace chunky. Perhaps a chipotle salsa would be better.

Breakfast Upside Down Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2007
I followed another reviewer's advice and spread into two cake pans - added 2 eggs and increased baking time. This was very tasty. I thought that it was a nicer presentation to serve baked side up. The cheezy bottom was very flat and somewhat undesirable looking. Perhaps additional grated cheese melted quickly under the broiler would spruce it up.

Crisp Pickled Green Beans

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2007
These were wonderful! My daughters, ages 7 and 11, loved them asked kept asking for more and more! We are pickle lovers and now have added dilled green beans to our repertoire of snacks. Trust me, once you eat three... you are hooked. The red pepper gave them a nice zing - but not too hot, and they are very crunchy. I'll make these again and again - such a wonderfully healthy snack for my girls. Thanks for the recipe!!!

Chicken-Fried Steak Strips

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2007
The flavor of the breading was wonderful. I served with country gravy and mashed potatoes. The meat was tough though, even after pounding. I'll make again, but will bite the bullet and pay a premium for tenderloin. If you pat thoroughly with paper towels, these are not greasy at all. I added pepper to the flour mixture. A great chicken fried steak recipe! Will definitely make it again. Thanks!

Asian Ginger Grill Marinade

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2007
Very tasty! I chose green onions over shallots for both flavor and color. I marinated chicken breasts for a day and then grilled. Everyone loved it - even the kids. Thanks for the recipe!

Absolutely Fabulous Greek/House Dressing

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2007
This was okay. The flavor was not spectacular or especially unique. I didn't like how the oil separated and hardened when refrigerated. I had to heat it briefly in order to shake and serve.

I made these for a school function. They were both tasty and beautiful. I used dried blueberries instead of currents. Wow! Thanks for the recipe!
