Strawberries and Cream Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2009
Wanted to make this for hubbies b-day but ended up getting a store bought cake instead. Sounded good but end result is this recipe is a waste of time & money - never got the whipped cream texture so I had to sub for canned whipped cream (only thing on hand), cake was so moist it stuck to cooling racks and middles fell out and they could not be salvaged so I ended up throwing away before I even got to cream cheese icing. At least I have a bunch of strawberries left for the kids.

Amber's Sesame Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2009
Dish was good not great although husband who is picky liked it and ate remaining for left overs. I did change recipe as previous postings suggested to 3 tbsps olive oil with 2 tbsps sesame oil, used peas although I think to much was added, 4 tbsps terriyaki sauce & honey however I will cut the honey count to 2 tbsps next time due to that it made it to sweet. Maybe more red pepper next time with broccoli instead. Will make again - thank you for the recipe.

Mexican Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2009
Made this for my boys as my daughter and I went out to dinner. Hands down they all loved this including my picky husband, he took the remaining left overs for lunch the next day. I did change the recipe as previous postings suggested to ground turkey instead of chicken, chopped a small onion and sauteed in olive oil first before cooking meat, used the taco seasoning 1 recipe for taco mix, 1 1/2 cup salsa, 2 cups cheese & crushed tortillas, dollop of sour cream on top when serving. Definitely will make again - Thanks for the recipe. On weight watchers now and recipe as is, one serving is 7 pts.

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2009
Made these cookies or Father's Day and they were a hit. With the exception of only having veg shortening I followed recipe to the tee. They came out very moist and the hint of spice gave it the right taste. Thank you for an awesome recipe, will definitely make again.

Tuna Fish Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2009
Made as directed however I found this to have to much mayo (even though I cut back as previous posts stated) which made the tuna mushy. Probably wont make again but thank you for sharing.

Sausage Pasta

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2009
Had extra sausage on hand, half sweet & half hot, about a lb but next time will use more. Easy to make and the only changes I made was I used beef broth rather than chicken, used diced tomatoes with garlic, onion & oregano and added a pinch of red pepper flakes with black pepper. Turned out excellent, kids and husband loved it. Definitely will make again. Thanks for the recipe.

Apple Crumb Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2009
Had a lot of Empire apples on hand so I decided to make this pie so not to let them go to waste - very easy to make however my family found this to be to sweet next time will try different apples and cut sugars back some - vanilla ice cream on top a plus for this.

Soft Christmas Cookies

Used recipe to make Valentines cookies for the kids teachers. It was very easy to make and after playing with time I had perfect moist chewy cookies. Took tip from previous post about cookies are done when center no longer looks wet regardless if browned on edges. Thanks for the recipe will be making a batch for my sons school in a few weeks.

Garlic Parmesan Orzo

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2009
Great side dish, followed directions but added 1 box thawed chopped spinach and a tad bit more milk and parm since the spinach absorbed what was called for. Family loved it. Next time I may make it an all in one meal by adding shrimp or bay scallops. Thanks for the recipe.

Zucchini Cake III

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2009
Excellent!! Followed "QueenSharon00" suggestions, omitting the pineapple as well and it came out very moist and super delicious. Also used vanilla frosting for topping by warming it up and drizzling it on. Bake time was 70 mins for me in a tubular flute pan. Thanks for the recipe :)

Creamy Potato Pork Chop Bake

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2009
Fairly quick and easy meal. Used lowfat sour cream, cheese & milk instead of regular. Sauteed pork chops (used thin cut boneless) with olive oil, garlic and onions and added everything to dish. Also used baby potato pancakes which did come out a little mushy next time I might use reg potatoes. Overall everyone ate it and was happy. Thanks for the recipe.

German Lasagna

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2009
Was able to put together quickly since I had most of ingredients on hand. But even using other previous suggestions such as halfing milk with cream as well as halfing mozz with swiss, using no bake noodles and sauteed onions with kielbasa first it still seemed like it was missing something. Will probably try again using maybe mustard and white pepper. Thanks for the recipe.
