Pizza Dough III

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2007
Very good! Liked it much better then the other pizza dough recipes on here. Made a few changes though. I added an extra 2 tablespoons of flour, and 2 tablespoons of Italian seasoning and it was wonderful! Make sure dough isn't sticky though. Mine was until I added the extra flour. Also, the recipe asked to let dough sit for 30 min, well I always learned to let it sit in a warm place, So I let it sit on the open door of my oven while oven preheated. After I changed it up it bit, the texture was awesome (not fluffy like others said,it was definetly crispy)! Will use as my main pizza crust recipe. Thanks

Cajun Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2007
Pretty good. Boyfriend and roommates loved it though. I'm not a huge pasta person but it was pretty good. However, You do not need to use Heavy Cream. I used Land O'Lakes Fat Free Half and Half milk and that tasted great. No need for the extra fat and calories! I even used fat free butter! And you really don't need as much milk in it. Just make sure to let pasta simmer for a while so sauce can thicken.

Apple Dumplings I

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2007
AMAZING!!! I think that this might be my favorite recipe from this website so far. My boyfriend loved them also even though he doesn't care for apple pie. I fallowed the directions from previous ratings and chopped the apples up small, added pumpkin pie spice to the sugar mixture, covered the apples in about 1 cup of the sugar mixture, then cooked the dumplings for 20 min before adding icing (I also added a few apple chunks to the icing) and then cooked for an additional 10 min. absolutely perfect!!

Acapulco Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2007
Wow, my boyfriend of 7 years made this for me and am super happy to finally see that he can cook! I made this a second time and it tasted great both times! It's easy to make. We added shrimp and garlic to ours and ate it like fajitas. But we did not use jalepenos. A definite 5 star meal!

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2009
I would give this a 5 star, except that I had to add about 1-2 extra teaspoons of corn syrup. Otherwise, it was great! After I decorated the cookies with it, the icing dried perfect. I hate when you can't stack cookies because of sticky icing, and this was perfect because it ended up firm enough on the cookies, and delicous. After reading the reviews, seems like you can either add syrup in the end like I did, or if you read the reviews before hand, you can just use more milk and less/no corn syrup. Almost Perfect Recipe! Once changes are made it is truly awesome!

Classic Pancakes

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2011
Delicious! I made some changes though... I did not have Silk Pure Almond Original, so I added a teaspoon of Almond Oil and a teaspoon of Vanilla. I also added a tablespoon of Mapel Syrup in it, and large spoonful of honey, along with water to supplement for the 1 cup of Silk Puree Almond Original. I put probably about 3/4 cup of water, or just enough to make it runny like. It was delicious...probably won't every buy store bought pancaka mix anymore!

Fluffy White Frosting

Reviewed: May 9, 2011
I'm going to try this again tomorrow. I got in a hurry and did not read through all the reviews, which in return I think I maybe put a tiny bit of Yolk in mine, which it did not set and was very runny. However, it must work out if this many people give it 5 stars! I wish the recipe clarified exactly how long to cook the sugary mixture. Mine was bubbly...but how bubbly did it need to be? Anyways, I will try again and rereview!

Grant's Special Mardi Gras Pasta

Reviewed: May 23, 2011
I really enjoyed this!!! Kinda makes me wish I was down in New Orleans! I ended up making some changes though. We did not have sausage or mushrooms on hand, so instead I cut up 4 oz of Mahi Mahi fish, and 4 oz of Salmon and cooked it along with the shrimp. I also added some lots of Red Onions and Jamacian Jerk seasoning made by Tones (to taste) and only used about 2 tablespoons of butter instead. Turned out great! Oh I also added a pinch of frest cilantro and extra parsley. Yum! Will make again

Gob Cake

Reviewed: May 23, 2011
Very good! I had no idea what I was making before beginning this recipe and never had even heard of Gob cake before...But, just had a craving for cake and happend to have all the right ingredients. I can't believe how soft this turned out. I actually made them into cupcakes...they really melt in your mouth even 3 days later. Will likely make again! If I had anything I would change, is I would add chocolate chips into the mixture to give it a stronger chocolate taste.

Sugar Peanuts

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2011
GREAT RECIPE! I got creative with the recipe though. I added abunch of cinnamon, a little ground clove, a bunch of maple syrup, and a little salt to the recipe. Turned out great! However, next time I would make sure I put my peanuts into the sugar mixture immediately before it boils. Even after baking it for 30 minutes at 300, the peanuts don't seem roasted enough. Next time I will also try with brown sugar instead. YUM! Taste like the expensive nuts you buy at the mall during xmas!

Vinegar Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2011
Wow, I can't believe how tasty these are for how easy they are to make! I ended up just whipping all the ingredients together in a bowl and adding a little strawberry and vanilla extract! Delicious! Only thing that would make them better, would be if they were a little thicker, but that would probably require eggs and for me to refrigerate them awhile, which I did not. Yum either way!

WWII Oatmeal Molasses Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2011
I just made such a perfect oatmeal cookie after semi-following this recipe. However, I didn't use any molasses as I didn't have any on hand. I happend to find the recipe because It didn't require any butter, as I only had a 1/4 cup on hand. I only made a half batch...so my changes refer to a half batch in terms of measurements!!!! Okay, instead of using 2.5 tablespoons of molasses, I used 1/2 cup of brown sugar. I added 1/4 cup of butter because that is all I had and added lots of pumpkin pie spice and cinnamon to taste....probably a couple teaspoons of both. These cookies are terrific. They hold together well, are soft, and came out the perfect thickness....almost like what you would buy professionally made. I also rolled mine into small 1inch balls before I baked them....Superb!

Chocolate Chip Pancakes

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2012
Probably the best consistency of pancakes I have ever ended with before. I've never been the best at making pancakes but these were excellent. They are much like the texture of pancakes you would get at Ihop, but with chocolate added. Also, I added white chocolate chips instead of regular chocolate chips. It was a perfect mixture between sweetness and not! Will definitely make again! Also I added just a little bit of vanilla and used cake flour instead of all purpose, but followed the rest of the recipe to heart. Thanks

Spinach Frittata

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2012
Pretty good. Made it pretty much exact to recipe except I grilled up my own chicken and added fresh chopped tomatoes with the spinach. This time, I used fresh spinach instead of frozen. I think next time it would be better to use frozen as the recipe asks. I think mine had too much moisture in it, and maybe a bit too much spinach causing it not to hold very well. Other then that, it tasted good!

Sheryl's Corn and Crab Chowder

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2012
It's a yummy one, and boy oh boy does it make alot! Yes, it is alot of work but it makes it worth it since and I can freeze it up and I can have it easier in the future. Also, I don't know how it happend, but it seems like it makes about 15 servings rather than 10. Also, during this recipe, I used 3 cans of crab meat. I think in future I would perfer 4 cans. I also think I will mash the potatoes just slightly in the future for a better texture aswell. I also added more of each spice to taste. I think kicking it up a bit makes it a top notch chowder soup!
