Rainbow Citrus Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2007
This cake is awesome. A bit of work but well worth it. The 1st time I made it, it did take a a lot of time. After then I organized my work to help the process flow smoothly. Preheat oven, preparing the pans and set aside 3 bowls for each layer (preferably the same size). Next grate the fruit, set aside. Then shift dry ingredients and set aside. Now start the actual creaming and mixing. After the cake goes into the oven, start the filling. While the filling is cooling start the frosting.

Grandma's Moist Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2007
I like this cake because it is a fool proof cake; its easy, always moist and always fluffy. I find the taste a little lacking but everyone else loves it, even my finicky teenage daughter. It's is also very versitile I have used it with buttercream frosting, lemon frosting, and chocolate frosting. It is a must have in a baker's arsenal.

Rich and Creamy Tomato Basil Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2007
I was looking for something less buttery with more tomato taste. But overall a good soup. I'll keep looking but if I don't find a better recipe, yes I will make this one again.

Basil Cream Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2007
Awesome recipe. I give it 10 stars. My picky family loved it. It will definitely be a family staple. I've made this dish two times. I cut the pimentos both times. The first time I substituted tofu for the chicken. The next time I used pre-cooked chicken brests. If you're hesitating on this recipe..Don't. It is explode in your mouth good.

This recipe is great. My family does not care for baked/broiled fish. But it was a hit. This will be a family staple. It's quick too!

Marinated Tuna Steak

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2007
Yuk. I'm sure that this is a good recipe for people that like tuna. This was my first experience with tuna steak. Now I know....I DON'T LIKE tuna! It's too fishy.

Simple Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2007
Excellent chili. Being from Texas, I have high expectations of chili. This one met the bill. I made some alterantations I used ground beef, increased all the spices by 1/4 to a teaspoon, and added cinnamon like one reviewer suggested and I also cut back on the water as noted in many of the reviews. This is a keeper.

Blue Cheese, Bacon and Chive Stuffed Pork Chops

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2007
I like blue cheese but this was too much. No one in my family liked the dish. Considering the taste, the off the chart sodium level and the $$. It will definitely never grace our table again.

Avocado and Tomato Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2007
Very enjoyable. My husband and children neither of which like tomatoes enjoyed it. The calorie level and sodium is a bit high so we will make it only occassionally.

Ham 'N' Cheese Quiche

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2007
Excellent recipe. It was easy. I made an alteration of adding 1/2 cup cheddar and 1/2 cup swiss only because I didn't have enough cheddar. The men even ate this quiche. Thanks for sharing Christena.

Gramma Bertha's Banana Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2007
Excellent cake. I used a cream cheese frosting. Unlike some reviewer, I didn't find this cake heavy. It is not a lite and fluffy cake but definitely not heavy. Excellent taste.

Parmesan Tomatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2007
Excellent taste! My family a crew of professed tomatoe hater loved this recipe. I gave it 4 stars because it gets soggy quickly. Don't use this recipe if you want leftovers.

Excellent Recipe. It is quick, good, and healthy. I added a bit of wine to the recipe to increase the volume of sauce. Colleen, thanks for sharing.

Polenta with Italian Sausage

Awesome recipe. I did not change a thing and it was great. I've made it twice and it was a hit both times. All the adults loved it. It was not appealling to my finicky teens.

Chili Dog Casserole II

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2007
It's allright. Edible. But that's about it. Regular chili dogs are better. The only benefit to I see is that since tortillas have a long shelf life, it is a meal that you can keep in your pantry and always be ready to conjure up a dinner in a short timeframe. I'll keep this in my rotation for that reason.

Beef Bourguignon II

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2007
I cooked it in my crock pot. I was not overly impressed with this dish. I may keep it in the line up as a crockpot dish. Because it is one that I can prepare ahead, freeze and use when my schedule get hectic.

Taco Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2007
The kids and young adults enjoyed it immensely. I thought it was good but a little dry. The next time I might serve it with guacamole and salsa to give it more depth. We will use it on a junk food night to replace pizza.

Sausage Pinwheels

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2007
I loved this recipe. My children were not overly fond of it. It is a great breakfast to serve on the morning of a big trip. Prepare ahead of time and cook the night before. Serve with sliced fruit and juice. You can eat and hit the road. Or take it along to eat as you drive.
