Juicy Roasted Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2012
Not being able to follow this recipe as written I want to say it WORKS WITH B/L S/L CHICKEN BREAST TOO! Groceries are running low,i was forced to make chicken for the 3rd time this week! We had it BBQ and the my sons favorite breaded & baked so i came across this one and decided to try it. I pounded them out and marinated in olive oil & minced garlic for an hour than put it all in a roasting pan with the celery & carrots i had leftover...i tried to stack the chicken to make it more cavity-like lol, added a little rosemary and the rest of what the recipe called for (margerine, salt & pepper!!) baked. It was Delicious! Had it with mashed potatoes and green beans. I look forward to making this on a cold winter day. I will definitely pick up a whole chicken on grocery day and follow this recipe correctly. My apologies to those of you that get upset when a recipe is changed and then rated.

Baked Garlic Parmesan Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2012
This recipe was perfect! I make baked chicken a lot but always by dipping it into the egg before coating with breadcrumbs. We had a crowd for breakfast and no eggs left. The oil & garlic is a good substitute. Thanks!!

Curried Cauliflower

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2011
I was writing down the ingredients on my shopping list when i realized i could try this recipe with what i had on hand. I'm so glad i did. It came out yummy! I had broccoli but no cauliflower so i used that. I also did not have cream of chicken..i only had cream of mushroom and celery so i went with the celery. Everything else was as stated although i did notice someone had mentioned cumin and i thought that would be good...i love indian spices so i used curry and added a couple dashes of cumin. No crackers so i used breadcrumbs and some sprinkle cheese. It was so good. I will make this again with cauliflower and cream of chicken!!!

Slow-Cooked Short Ribs

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2008
These came out so good! I had less than 2 lbs of B/L short ribs and no canned beef broth or chili sauce on hand. I used all the other ingredients but substituted a beef broth packet mixed with water and some jack daniels BBQ sauce instead of chili sauce. I did flour and brown the meat and due to lack of time i put it in my smaller crockpot on high for 2 hours and than 2 more hours on low and it was so good! WOW! I tried a piece 2.5 hours in and it was good at that point as well. I wish i would have had it with mashed potatoes because that sounds really good but i had already made the sweet potato souffle from this site as well as tasty greens and corn on the cob. Very good dinner! I never even was a fan of ribs...can't wait to make this again.

Dirty Bedtime Story

Reviewed: May 16, 2008
I had a party last saturday night and at some point yelled out "who's ready for a dirty bedtime story?" and got everyone excited to try this drink! If you are a fan of white russians you may enjoy this. I had some irish cream i wanted to use up and found this recipe. I made this exactly as written using Hershey's chocolate syrup in the first round and then tried this gourmet chocolate sauce i had. Very good!

Camper's Potatoes

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2008
I made these on a camping trip just the potatoes and onions, i didn't have any mushrooms but i imagine that would be good. The soup mix makes it so good. I knew i would like it because i make potatoes like that in the oven at home- Throw them in a bag with olive oil and soup mix, leave the skins on and spread it on a pan in the oven. These are easy to pull outta the cooler and throw on the grill. Food is so much better camping!

Chicken Parmigiana

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2008
Chicken Parm is my absolute favorite and the best place to get it in Dover, Delaware is Roma's restaurant by the air force base. I like this recipe because it is very basic and easy although i do prefer a better sauce than the ones in a jar that i have had. The only thing different i did was to add some Parmasan cheese and garlic salt to the breadcrumbs. Very Good! Very easy! Thank you!

Flatlander Chili

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2008
Out of all the different chili recipes i have tried i like this one the best. I used V-8 tomato juice and the only change was adding diced tomatoes (the one roasted w/ garlic and peppers)to it because i like the chunky tomatoes in mine. GREAT RECIPE DEFINITLY!

Southwestern Vegetarian Pasta

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2008
I came home from work and realized i didn't pull any meat out that morning so i went to Allrecipes to find something that i had the ingredients for. This is what i made. I followed the recipe exact but i wasn't crazy about it. I was happy to use the chick peas that had been in my cabnit for awhile but that is what threw me off and that it seemed a little bland. I will say it was alot better reheated the next day for lunch and it does look good.

Cheese Ball I

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2008
I followed this recipe exact. I made a small one to try at home before making one to take to a potluck at work. It was very good. I had it with wheat thins. I'm sure the addition's that were suggested by other reviewers make it even better but this is good as it is. There are times when all you need is a basic recipe and then there are occasions where you need to step it up. This works! Thanks for the post.

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2008
I have made chili about a dozen times in the last 6 months using different recipes just in an effort to learn and get the hang of it. I like this recipe, i didn't have chili seasoning but i used a combination of cayenne pepper, cumin and chili powder instead. Very good. I was excited to use up the salsa i had in the fridge. The salsa ingredient is what i think is special about this recipe.

Quick and Easy Sauteed Spinach

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2008
This is a great way to cook spinach. I grew up eating it popeye style- out of a can all watery with butter. Lol! This is so good and healthy! I used minced garlic and fresh spinach from the roadstand. You just pile it up in the skillet and it cooks down with just a little olive oil like cabbage. So good!5/6 UPDATE- Last night i made this again but with fresh garlic sliced very thin-even better!

Diet Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2008
I love this recipe! It's very versatile. The first time i made it i followed the recipe as written and it was good but a little bland for me. I remember my Mom-Mom Jewell making it with V-8 juice so last night i used the same recipe but i used a combination of chicken broth, water and V-8 juice and omited the french onion soup mix altogether. I used fresh green beans instead of frozen which i thought made it better. I didn't have tomatoes so i used a can of diced tomatoes instead. I think corn would be good too some fresh corn off the cob mmm... I love the cabbage in this soup. The amount of veggies you use can be altered to suit your taste. I also added a dash of cayenne pepper and s&p.

Slow Cooker Chile Verde

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2007
I made this again using chicken instead and it was perfect. The heat was just right for me. I followed the recipe exactly other than to change the meat and added corn and black beans. My company loved it! The first time i made it with pork i didn't like it as much but it may have been the cut of meat i got. It was way to greasy. You can't go wrong with b/s-less chicken breasts though and definitly try it with black beans and corn. YUM!
