Slow Cooker Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2009
Very good basic vegetable beef soup. I added a tablespoon of garlic powder, worchester sauce, a bay leaf and some season-all salt to taste. I also used 2 lbs of stew meat and it came out perfect...really good on a cold night.

Authentic Louisiana Red Beans and Rice

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2009
This is about as close as you are gonna get to the authentic stuff. Per six cups of water I used 4 chicken boullion cubes, I also added a teaspoon of chili powder and half a teaspoon of cumin. I also used two cans of kidney beans instead of dried beans since that is what I had on hand. Aside from that I followed the recipe...good stuff, thanks for the recipe it is a keeper for our house. Oh yeah I strained out and mashed half of the beans toward the end of cooking and returned to the pot for the creamy consistency.

Salmon Fillets with Creamy Dill

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2009
Yes there is more topping than needed for the amount of fish so that needs to be cut back but the flavor is great as long as you don't slather too much on....great way to have salmon.

Chicken and Dumplings II

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2009
Ok I simplified this to fit my tastes.. First i ommitted the green peppers and tomatoes, just doesn't fit for me. I used 5 cups of broth/water & boullion so that it had a bit more gravy. I deboned my chicken and added it to the broth before dropping the dumplings. Also, to make the gravy a bit thicker I added a heaping tablespoon or so of the bisquick mix and just mixed with some water and threw it in to thicken up the sauce. I just used tried and true bisquick for my dumplings, 2 1/4 C mix and 2/3 cup of milk and spoon drop them into the broth. This is my go to recipe with the small changes I made....this is the real deal. I can't believe people on this site love the slow cooker version of chicken and dumplings so much. To me the taste of that is bland and the dumplings are slimy and doughy. This is the homemade style I grew up on and worth the time. Thanks for the recipe!

Beer Butt Chicken

Really good chicken. You can switch up the spices/rub to whatever you want it to be. I didn't have the special rack so I just stuffed the can in and put it on a glass baking dish and slid it on the grill.....good stuff.

Restaurant-Style Coleslaw I

Reviewed: May 19, 2009
Great slaw! I cut out the buttermilk since I didn't have it on hand. I also cut down on the sugar to a little less than 1/3 cup because I didn't want it too sweet. This turned out great....and I will continue to make it w/o the buttermilk, for me it is not needed. Thanks for the recipe!

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2009
Excellent, I did add a can of diced tomatoes for a chunkier chili, and I used two McCormick's chili packets for more flavor, but this is your basic no frills, really good chili!

Excellent lasagna...cut back on the salt just a bit and used ground turkey as the only meat (wife doesn't like italian sausage)....aside from that, followed it to a T and was well worth it. Thanks for a great recipe!!!
