Sunrise Strawberrry-Pineapple Tropical Smoothie

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2010
Cooking is a constant learning experience. I have since improved this recipe. I buy a big bag of frozen fruit from wally world that has pineapple, peaches, strawberries and mangos. Use about 1 1/2 cups of frozen fruit. I blend that with 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt. Splash of orange juice or apple juice any would really work. Blend it up and your done! yummy!

Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2010
yummy! Here is what I did. I sauted the chicken and then put it aside while I made the sauce and then let it reduce for 10-15 minutes before adding the chicken back in. If the sauce doesn't thickin up for you I would use some cornstarch. I used two large cloves of garlic and some pickled ginger slices cut minced up and it was wonderful. Def will be making again.

Ultimate Twice Baked Potatoes

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2010
Great recipe. I love these! Getting the scooping down is the hardest thing. Try and leave a 1/4 of an inch around the skin to give these some stability. I always like to bake 1 additional potato to add to the filling so there is enough and in case something happens to one of the the potato skins.

Buffalo Chicken Dip

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2010
yummy dip! yucky color, which only really seemed to bother me. I boiled 2 large chicken breasts then shredded them. Next time I may chop them up instead. Used half and half blue cheese and ranch. Franks red hot is my favorite hot sauce so I would recommend it. After baking does get a greasy layer on top just blotted off with paper towel and tossed back in the oven for 5 minutes. Used celery and tortilla chips to dip.

Bacon Wrapped Smokies

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2010
1/3 a piece of bacon is plenty to wrap these smokies with. The more the sugar the better, I added about 1/2 a cup more brown sugar to mine. These are the perfect appetizer for football or parties and everyone loves them. So easy so yummy!

Best Ever Jalapeno Poppers

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2010
Great recipe for poppers! Here are a few hints that helped me.Use gloves while cleaning the jalapenos (I halved them first then used a spoon to scoop the seeds and membranes out), boiled them for 2 min (very necessary), chilled in ice water, dried them on paper towels, then stuffed them and mound stuffing slightly. Recipe needs more bacon then recipe states, I added 4 additional pieces of bacon. The amount of stuffing could fill at least 20 jalapenos. I ended up with 40 poppers. The three layer breading process is key but u need more breadcrumbs then the recipe states. After the first coat of breadcrumbs I ran out so I used some buttery crackers blended in the blender for second crumb coat.I fried mine in oil because I was afraid the cheese would leak out. Time consuming but worth it if you love jalapeno poppers!

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2009
This was not terrible but I was just expecting something better with all the great reviews and near perfect rating. I followed the recipe without deviation, and even with the cheese, sour cream and tortillas it just wasn't that good. I even added some extra spices trying to perk it up and still pretty bland. Im sorry but I will not be making this again. This is a three star recipe at best despite its convenience.

Chicken Souvlaki Gyro Style

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2009
This was very good as is but I love to tinker. I added 1/4 tsp of rosemary and 1/4 tsp of thyme. I think the chicken could use a little salt or maybe a little garlic salt which is why im giving it four stars. I used a store bought tzatziki so i cant comment on that, but next time I will make it because of all the rave reviews. The store bought pita bread left a lot to be desired so im gonna try and make peppy's pita bread from this site the next time and will update with the changes. Also left out the olives, peppers and feta because it is good without all of the extras but Im positive they would all be yummy additions.

Buckeye Cookies III

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2009
Whenever i get a craving for a peanut butter cup, I make these. They are delicious and easy to make. The only changes I made was adding a 1/4 tsp of salt to the peanut butter/sugar mix. You can alter the sugar to your tastes and preferences. If you like a creamier inside just use less sugar and freeze before coating in chocolate.

Guacamole

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2009
This is very close to my guacamole recipe. I dont use cayenne or raw onion. I instead use a couple of dashes of onion powder. Other than that the recipe is one that will make some good ol' guac!

Garden Pasta Salad

Reviewed: May 19, 2009
WARNING DO NOT USE THE INDICATED AMOUNT OF DRESSING! I know that it had to be a miss print, just use as much as suits your tastes. This recipe is a variation of a typical pasta salad. I love pasta salad b/c it is so versatile. I have made this version and prefer mine without celery and carrots. Try roast red bell pepper, basil, green, calamata, or black olives, tomatoes, green onion, feta, parmesan, ham, roast beef, pepperoni, genoa salami or pepperoncini the possiblities are really endless. One tip for making left over pasta salad great is to drizzle with additonal dressing and mix up before plateing b/c the pasta tends to soak up the dressing over time and can dry out.

Easy Key Lime Pie I

Reviewed: May 3, 2009
This is an awesome recipe. I have made it two different ways, first I messed the recipe up and used 5 whole eggs and to my suprise it came out delish (had more of a cheese cake consistancy)! The last time I followed the recipe to a T and it came out really good as well(more of a gelly consistancy). Both times I made the pie I used a little lime zest in the filling. Either way this is one great recipe!

Mall Pretzels

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2009
OMG... Do not hesitate to try these. I will never buy a 5 dollar pretzel again! I made just a few allterations but these come out wonderfully. I made the dough just as written. I then doubled the water soda mix and boiled it, then placed the pretzels into the boiling water removing them when they floated. After boiling I dabbed off the excess liquid and then continued with the baking. While baking I noticed the bottoms were getting browned fast and the tops were still not done, so i removed the pretzels from the oven then brushed them with butter (I think the butter is key in making these pretzles taste like auntie annes)and sprinkled with salt and then placed them under the broiler for a minute or so until they were nice and brown on the tops. This is the only way I have been able to get the correct coloring with my finicky oven without the bottoms getting to dark.

Spinach Stuffed Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2009
Definately butterfly then pound out your breasts. Then saute or grill to get some color on the outside. Initially, I like using lemon pepper and garlic powder to season the chicken. The sauteing or grilling cuts down on the cooking time in the oven, usually around 20-25 min in a 350 degree oven. I used half mayo and half sour cream for the stuffing as well as a little roasted red bell pepper and mozzarella cheese. If you dont like feta you could customize this dish to use just provalone, mozzarella or fontina and it would be delishious that way as well.

Chicken Bog

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2008
My boyfreinds family is from beaufort SC and his dad taught me how to make this. Im giving this recipe 4 stars because it it is so similar to the chicken bog (which I love). I do not use italian seasoning, I use soul food seasoning for a little spice. I also use a combo of polska kielbasa, a few cooked breakfast sausage links and chicken for the meat. Also I use bell peppers and onions instead of just onions. If you would like a variation of this recipe, I would suggest making it this way it is delicious.....mmmm

Firecracker Grilled Alaska Salmon

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2008
This was probably the best salmon I have ever had. I didn't have any balsamic vinegar so I just used apple cider vinegar. Next time i make it I will make it exactly as the recipe states.
