My Husband and I Playing in the Snow
About this Cook
I'm currently a married, full-time student in Pharmacy School. I usually don't have a lot of time to cook because of my studies, but I do enjoy cooking, baking and grilling when I can. Right now, I really want to learn more about cake decorating techniques. I'm very interested in learning about how to make and work with fondant. I'm actually looking into signing up for a cake decorating class this summer at a local community college, so wish me good luck!
My favorite things to cook
I LOVE Southern, Italian and Asian recipes! I especially love pastas, casseroles and anything grilled. Besides cooking, I also enjoy baking lots of sugary goodness.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Licking the cake batter off everything Mom/Grandma cooked with!
My cooking triumphs
I won a soup competition that was held at my school using one of my husband's favorite recipes: "Super-Delicious Zuppa Toscana".
My cooking tragedies
None yet, thank goodness. BUT, my husband has melted a cutting board and a plastic container of mine on the stove :(

Marinated Grilled Shrimp
My husband and I grilled shrimp for the first time last night and we used this recipe. We both absolutely loved it, which speaks volumes for my husband as he isn't a huge shrimp fan! In my opinion, this made the shrimp taste like shrimp you'd eat in a restaurant! We will definitely be using this recipe again and recommending it to our friends!

Caramelized Brussels Sprouts with Pistachios
Great base recipe! I altered it by using sweet onions instead of red onions, balsamic vinegar instead of red wine vinegar, and brown sugar instead of white sugar. As the other reviews suggested, be sure to chop off the stems and instead of coursely chopping the sprouts, I just halved them all. I don't have a steamer, so I just added two tablespoons of water in a pot with the sprouts set at just a little below medium to steam them (with the lid on until they were slightly tender), before sautéing them. These alterations worked out great for me! Will definitely make them again!

Savory Garlic Marinated Steaks
Just used this recipe tonight! We usually marinate everything in a teriyaki sauce, and tonight I decided to try something different bc it was my husband's birthday. This marinade is A-MAZ-ING!!! Both my husband and I absolutely loved it! We marinated it for only 30 minutes on kinda thin (1 inch thick) top sirloins, and it turned out great.
