About this Cook
I'd rather cook a delicious meal than go out and have someone cook for me. I enjoy knowing exactly what goes into my meal (weather it's healthy or not!). I'm a high school science teacher, and love to cook for my wife. Before I met her she could make maybe mac-n-cheese and toast. Now I have her making Chilean Sea Bass with a mango salsa all by herself! I can take a bunch of ingredients and make something GOOD out of them.
My favorite things to cook
Cedar Plank Salmon with salt/pepper/brown sugar, penne rustica, red pasta sauce, serloin steak with sauted mushrooms and a baked potato, chilean sea bass with mango salsa, fettucini alfredo...I can go on and on!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My father is great at taking random ingredients and making a meal out of them! Much of my inspiration came from him.
My cooking triumphs
Making a delicious and full-course thanksgiving dinner entirely by myself the first time with no problems. Only 2 of us eating, but I made enough for at least SIX!
My cooking tragedies
Fortunately, I have had no tragedies yet! Just little things like, coulda' used more salt... I think I just jinxed myself!

Penne with Sausage and Portobello Mushrooms
I'll even give my OWN recipe 4/5 stars! I think I should have put "pepper to taste". And keep in mind...the 2 tbs of pepper is fresh ground pepper from a pepper grinder, so there's a bit less spice than buying it already ground from the store. However, the salt is absorbed by the sausage pretty well and only adding a little usually wasn't enough for my wife and I. So I guess "salt and pepper to taste." Still love making this dish! Thanks for the comments.

Spanish Rice II
Very bland dish. First off, you need cumin powder in addition to chili powder (or no chili powder at all since there are chilies already in there). Second, you need more salt in this recipe. The rice soaked a lot of it up, had to add more while eating. I was quite disappointed in the flavor. I'll stick to my own recipe next time....sorry there John Mac. This one flopped.

Alfredo Sauce
Definitely needs just a little pepper, some salt, squeeze of some lemon and maybe some Italian spices (thyme, basil, oregano). A little bland for me.
