Campbell's® Golden Chicken with Noodles

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2009
not bad, not bad at all: the sauce was delicious, if a bit thin, but it lacked a richness of flavour (not sure how to remedy that)...nice and tart, tho, and the chicken was amazingly tender...i added some salt (very little) and pepper (a good amount), and only used 4 breasts (just cooking for me and the hubby) so we ended up with tons of sauce---nice on leftover noodles!! it was a hit at our house, so i'll make this again!

Rosemary Roasted Butternut Squash

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2013
despite swearing like a sailor while i was peeling the squash, i really loved this! I followed the recipe and it was great---thank you!

Six Can Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2011
this is a great, easy soup but it needed a bit of dressing-up! i followed others' suggestions and added a can of cream of chicken soup (in lieu of one can of broth), some cumin, garlic, Adobo seasoning, and black pepper. Served it with shredded cheese, and warm, homemade cornbread---fantastic!!

Tasty 2-Step Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2008
well, this was terrific, and just what i needed---a simple, fast recipe with few ingredients...i used enormous chicken breasts, so the cooking time was longer, and i added an onion, some garlic, and some mushrooms...my husband loved it, and it doesn't break the bank or the calorie count!

Chow Mein Noodle Cookie

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2010
these are yummy, but anyone saying they are easy must be doing it better than me i found these incredibly difficult---they stuck to everything (i'm going to have to take a jackhammer to my stovetop), clung to my fingers as i tried to push them off the spoon, and as soon as i mixed the peanuts and noodles into the melted butterscotch chips it all seized up into this hard lump! so i turned the heat up to melt them again and scorched the bottom of the lump...maybe i'm just not cut out to be a baker...did i mention that i burnt my fingers in the melted butterscotch?

Broccoli Cheese Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2009
not bad, but not overly exciting, either...i seasoned the chicken with salt and pepper, and added a clove of crushed garlic to the soup/milk...the flavour wasn't as cheesy as i was expecting, so a little disappointing...the chicken breasts i used were HUGE, so i extended the cooking time to 50 minutes (not sure what size chicken breasts cook in 20 min)...overall, while my husband enjoyed it, i would say it was a bit bland and unexciting, but easy.

Slow Cooker Turkey Breast

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2011
this was glorious in its simplicity---so easy and so delicious; i added about 3/4 cup of chicken broth at the bottom and some sliced onion, strained it after the turkey was done and it made magnificent gravy. Thank you for this recipe!

Stuffing for Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2009
this did not work for me at all---not AT ALL! i used seasoned dry stuffing cubes, so didn't add the herbs and salt (as the recipe suggested) and it was tasteless until i added some salt and poultry seasoning...that livened it up a bit, but after only 4 1/2 hrs in the slow cooker (45 min on high, then on low) it was nearly burnt, hard and impossible to eat----out of all that effort and expense i got maybe 2 cups of usable stuffing which i didn't even like the taste of: nearly all of it went down the disposal since my guests didn't like it either...will move on to another recipe for stuffing i'm afraid!

Toads in the Hole I

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2012
my English husband loved this, but i changed the directions slightly to cook it the way his mum does in England: after browning the sausages, pour about 3tbsp peanut or canola oil into the pan along with the sausages (make sure it's oven proof) and place it in the preheated oven until the oil is smoking hot; pour the batter over the sausages and quickly place the pan back into the hot oven, bake as directed (altho mine took 40 minutes to be cooked properly). We served with Colcannon (from this site) and onion gravy. My husband raved!

Thai Green Curry Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2012
there's no denying that this is very tasty...but it is not Thai. I think next time i will double the fish sauce and add a hearty amount of fresh lime juice along with the cilantro at the end, and maybe cut down on the coconut milk a bit.

Favorite Old Fashioned Gingerbread

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2011
a lovely bread/cake as is, but needed double the spices to get a true gingerbread flavour for me. I made my version (a little bit more) diabetic-friendly by substituting Splenda granulated for the sugar, applesauce for the butter, and EggBeaters for the egg. Came out heavy, dense, moist and rich---my favourite kind of gingerbread!!! Thank you!

Almond Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2010
these were dry, crumbly, and virtually tasteless...my husband spat his out then rinsed his mouth with coffee because it was so dry.....needless to say, i will *not* be making these again

Seven Layer Tortilla Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2012
this was very very good! i added an envelope of taco seasoning split between the two bean mixtures, and used a tin of vegetarian refried beans instead of mashing pinto beans. I used a drained tin of Ro-Tel tomatoes with lime and cilantro instead of fresh tomatoes, and used a lot more cheese---we're cheese lovers at our house! I thought the suggestion of a springform pan was very clever, so i did that and it came out terrific; would give 4.5 stars if i could, with 1/2 a star off for being a bit stodgy. Still delicious, filling, and easy! Thank you!

Country Seed Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2011
dear me, another bread maker failure for me---i look at that photo of that beautiful loaf and want to weep: my hard, craggy, lumpy "bread" looked *nothing* like that and i followed the recipe to the letter...i have no idea what i'm doing wrong, but the result was a hard lump of baked dough with burnt seeds stuck to the bottom...same thing happened when i tried to make cinnamon raisin bread from this site...if anyone can tell me what i'm doing wrong, please do, because i don't want to be relegated to making *just* the recipes from the manufacturer's handbook!

Green Beans with Cherry Tomatoes

This was incredibly good---I followed the recipe to the letter, and would only change one thing next time: I will reduce the sugar to a scant teaspoon. Otherwise, no changes---we loved this!!!! Thank you!

Easy Polenta with Tomato Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2013
I had never made polenta before, but this was an easy and very tasty dish. I stirred some Italian seasoning and garlic powder into the polenta with the Parmesan, along with salt and pepper. It set up well and tasted good with a jarred sauce and a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese. Thanks!

Authentic Bangladeshi Beef Curry

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2013
this was delicious! We are big fans of curries, and this was simple to prepare, used ingredients I had on hand, and tasted great. I used sirloin (the result of sending the hubby out for chuck roast), and omitted the fresh chilis: I substituted a good pinch of cayenne. Next time, I'll use at least one chili and chuck roast. Served with plain broccoli and basmati rice---thank you!!!

Oven Omelet

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2011
this was great with a few tweaks! i didn't have any prepared hash browns so i grated 2 large red potatoes into the eggs, used 1/2 lb of bacon (browned and crumbled) instead of ham, and included a sauteed onion and green pepper---turned out terrific! thank you!!
