Homemade Black Bean Veggie Burgers

Reviewed: May 18, 2011
the flavor of these burgers is phenomenally good---plenty of spice, a little heat, loads of taste! mine came out a bit floppy, but i think that was because i was conservative with the bread crumbs; next time i will add more to achieve a firmer burger---thank you for this recipe!!

Quick and Easy Brownies

Reviewed: May 5, 2011
well, it must be me; this is the third brownie recipe i've tried off this website, and the third disaster in a row...these, to their credit, were less of a disaster than the other ones, but a disaster nonetheless...how can people possibly be giving these 5 stars??? they are revoltingly sweet with no chocolate flavor, and are oily beyond all words to tell it...plus, they don't rise meaning i ended up with a pan of 1/2 inch high greasy sort-of-chocolate crackers...forget it: i'll buy box mixes...what a waste of ingredients

Grandma Johnson's Scones

Reviewed: May 3, 2011
these are wonderful...i have made these twice now; the first time was a bit fraught, and i had to add some milk to get the dough to come together---i made the first batch with regular sugar, and tonight i've made the second batch with Splenda (again needing a little milk) and they are brilliant! they are light, sweet, delightful, and rise beautifully...only wish i could find some clotted Devonshire cream to have with them (Marscarpone cheese is a close but inferior substitute)---thank you!!! My husband, who is from England, said his aunt, a lifelong member of the Women's Institute would be proud to serve them :) High praise indeed!!!

Slow-Cooker Pepper Steak

Reviewed: May 3, 2011
this was pretty good, but i guess i was expecting a more Oriental flavor, which this didn't have...I should have known when it contained tomatoes that it wasn't going to taste very Asian, but it was nice nonetheless. If i were to make it again I would have to change it some: leave out the tomatoes and add perhaps more cornstarch for a thicker gravy, and maybe some sherry

Best Brownies

Reviewed: May 2, 2011
Will not be making these again.how on earth did anyone have these stick to the pan????? mine were swimming in butter---they literally slid out of the pan if i tilted it; they have no flavor, no texture --not cakey, not fudgey, just like sand..

Oven Omelet

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2011
this was great with a few tweaks! i didn't have any prepared hash browns so i grated 2 large red potatoes into the eggs, used 1/2 lb of bacon (browned and crumbled) instead of ham, and included a sauteed onion and green pepper---turned out terrific! thank you!!

Slow Cooker Lemon Garlic Chicken II

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2011
this was very good, moist, and easy to make; i think next time i will, like other posters, increase the amount of seasonings (oregano, pepper, parsley) and use chicken stock instead of water...i might even thicken it up a bit at the end to use as a gravy as opposed to a jus...my husband loved it, so this will definitely be a keeper---thanks!

Ham and Beans and More

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2011
good, good, great, wonderful, delicious!!! we loved this---i work nights, so i whipped it up and into the slow cooker before i went to bed in the morning, woke up, did errands, and had a fantastic dinner waiting for me and the hubby! I served this with crusty Italian bread and a simple salad---this will be a frequent meal at our house; thank you!!

Spinach Quiche

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2011
this turned out terrific! My local grocery store didn't have a deep dish pie crust so i divided the ingredients between 2 regular frozen pie crusts and it worked beautifully---thanks!

Cookie Jar Gingersnaps

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2011
i hate to even rate this recipe, because i'm sure it was my fault: all these 5 star ratings, but my cookies came out lousy *has* to be down to my poor technique, but i don't know what i did wrong!!! i measured precisely, followed the directions, and they came out like little balls of sand---tasteless, no crunch, sandy texture...the only thing i changed was to increase the ginger to a tbsp...my "dough" was *very very* dry and sandy---i had to work like heck to mold them into anything resembling a ball.

Six Can Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2011
this is a great, easy soup but it needed a bit of dressing-up! i followed others' suggestions and added a can of cream of chicken soup (in lieu of one can of broth), some cumin, garlic, Adobo seasoning, and black pepper. Served it with shredded cheese, and warm, homemade cornbread---fantastic!!

these came out great, and my husband loved them! i added a little garlic powder to the bread crumb mix and skipped the fresh garlic in the oil: succulent, delicious chops! thank you!!

Country Seed Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2011
dear me, another bread maker failure for me---i look at that photo of that beautiful loaf and want to weep: my hard, craggy, lumpy "bread" looked *nothing* like that and i followed the recipe to the letter...i have no idea what i'm doing wrong, but the result was a hard lump of baked dough with burnt seeds stuck to the bottom...same thing happened when i tried to make cinnamon raisin bread from this site...if anyone can tell me what i'm doing wrong, please do, because i don't want to be relegated to making *just* the recipes from the manufacturer's handbook!

Tuna Melt Sandwiches

these were yummy! i didn't like the idea of using burger buns so i used toasted italian bread instead and doubled the amount of tuna---they were great served up with some tater tots and a pickle :)
