Six Can Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2011
this is a great, easy soup but it needed a bit of dressing-up! i followed others' suggestions and added a can of cream of chicken soup (in lieu of one can of broth), some cumin, garlic, Adobo seasoning, and black pepper. Served it with shredded cheese, and warm, homemade cornbread---fantastic!!

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2011
this is flavorful enough, but nothing special, i'm sorry to say...my mum used to make loads of pumpkin bread every holiday season and hers had a completely different texture and richer flavor. Sadly, she didn't give me the recipe before she passed away. The search for Mum's Pumpkin Bread continues.

Dutch Apple Pie with Oatmeal Streusel

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2011
the spicing and flavor of the filling and the crumble top is perfect (i used 1/3 cup of Splenda in the filling and 1/2 cup Splenda Brown in the crumble and omitted the rest of the sugar), but i don't see the purpose of the crust; i'll stick to making apple crisp. Still, if you're looking specifically for a pie, this one's a winner.

my husband said, "These are the best things you've ever baked." No alterations to the recipe and they are spectacular---thank you!

Indian Chickpeas

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2011
i loved this, my husband less so, but his only criticism was that it had too many chickpeas in it...so take from that what you will! the flavour was lovely, and mashing up a few of the chickpeas thickened the sauce beautifully. I served this as an accompaniment to Saag Paneer (Spinach and Cheese Curd) with homemade naan bread---it was terrific! thank you!

Busy Day Barbeque Brisket

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2011
this was not to our taste at all. I used Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce and followed the recipe to the letter but the entire thing is in the trash can, minus a few bites. It had a very bitter taste and the smokiness was overwhelming. A complete waste of a lot of food and a lot of money. Sorry.

Cranberry Almond Biscotti

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2011
i have tried several biscotti recipes from this site with varying degrees of success (from dismal failure to kind of edible) but these are the business! they are easy to make, delicious to eat, and turn out like a proper biscotti! i substituted 3/4 cup of Splenda for sugar, and added 5 drops of Almond Oil in addition to the almond extract---they are terrific! thank you for a wonderful recipe!!

Slow Cooker Butter Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2011
this was good, but just shy of the mark...it is reminiscent of Butter Chicken but missing something, and i'm not expert enough to know what that is! perhaps it is dependent on what kind of curry paste you use; i used Patak's Madras curry paste...however, even tho it isn't really Butter Chicken to me, it is a nice quasi-curry that i will be making again! thanks!!

Homemade Black Bean Veggie Burgers

Reviewed: May 18, 2011
the flavor of these burgers is phenomenally good---plenty of spice, a little heat, loads of taste! mine came out a bit floppy, but i think that was because i was conservative with the bread crumbs; next time i will add more to achieve a firmer burger---thank you for this recipe!!

Quick and Easy Brownies

Reviewed: May 5, 2011
well, it must be me; this is the third brownie recipe i've tried off this website, and the third disaster in a row...these, to their credit, were less of a disaster than the other ones, but a disaster nonetheless...how can people possibly be giving these 5 stars??? they are revoltingly sweet with no chocolate flavor, and are oily beyond all words to tell it...plus, they don't rise meaning i ended up with a pan of 1/2 inch high greasy sort-of-chocolate crackers...forget it: i'll buy box mixes...what a waste of ingredients
