Creamy Irish Potato Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2011
I've made this several times both at home and at my mothers&grandmothers house. gram hated it mom said it was ok but needed more potatoes(both very picky eaters) My children beg for more and want it all the time.Hubby and my self can't get enough ,the kids eat it all before we get a second bowl. Definitely a keeper.

Jammin' Beef Stew

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2010
An excellent stew. I took this to a church pot luck and got mad reviews.everyone loved it and wanted the recipe. i thought the jam was a bit odd as an ingredient but it turned out delicious. i had a soccer gameat the same time that night so I didn't get anything but broth. but from that i felt it deserved a 5 star rating. will make again.

Beef Stew VI

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2008
this was a great starter for me. stuck almost to the recipe. i didn't have cubes so i used the granules instead. also ended up using more water as i added more veggies,( love those little devils). used olive oil for a little healthier stew. i also coated the meat in a flour and Montreal steak seasoning mixture before cooking.other wise was a great stew, and as it was raining and extremely windy last night a great warm meal for the night.

Slow-Cooker Barbecue Ribs

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2008
OK I'm making this again tonight. I've made it exactly as the directions and have also improvised as well. tonight I'm going to improves again as i have no chili sauce.this is an absolute awesome recipe, with a little spice and sweetness it really takes the cake.my family really loves it i have 4 kids ranging from 14-8 and they can't get enough. even darling hubby loves them and hes not a big ribs fan. again the BBQ will be used as well as the ketchup and all the ingredients I'm sure it will be a big hit. thank you for this wonderfully tasty dish.

Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2007
great starter but as others said not enough veggies(I like veggies!)tried some other things as well the celery and chicken soups were a great idea, as was the garlic. this will be a new soup for lunch instead of the usual caned stuff. just serve with a good roll.

I'm a ham and cabbage person and i love squash and zucchini so this was a great way to combine them both. i added turkey ham to keep it low fat. and my kids actually liked it they don't want it to often but did eat with out complaining and a fight.will probably make again.

Mom's Favorite Meatloaf

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2007
I give this a 5 not for me but for my mother, my children, and my husband who all said its the best in the world.I liked it but felt it needed something else (not sure what). Mom said she liked how it stayed together(hers never does),and used the leftovers for sandwiches the next day.

ok i didn't use the celery cause i didn't have any but used the seed instead for flavor. still took longer to cook and needed more salt and veggies so i added a can of peas and was a little better. will probably make again.

Crookneck Squash and Tomatoes

Reviewed: May 17, 2007
ok this is my lowest rating ever. the combination was a bigg hit but it took longer to cook then was mentioned. the sauce/marinade was not enough to reach all veggies. might make again but with more sauce and a little longer to suit my personal taste. thanks though.

Bacon Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2007
this was a very time consuming meal. it was very good taste wise but i think that i will prepare things such as the chicken and onion the night before. lots of half and half i think i will try regular milk maybe whole milk next time. other wise this was a big hit. it also doesn't microwave well and we like leftovers. i will make again but not too soon. half and half is kind of expensive to use like that. luckily i drink lots of coffee.

Homesteader Cornbread

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2007
i have tried dozens of cornbread recipes and this is the best one yet and definatly better then the box stuff. i'm not sure what the other people did to mess up there batches but i will definatly make this again and again and again.not greasy at all. a little more salt needed next time. but other wise it had the right amount of sweetness and texture was a little different but overall a delicious corn bread.
