Bacon Roasted Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2007
I used rosemarry instead of thyme since I didn't have any on hand and I really liked the flavor. I also added 1/4 onion, 2 cloves of garlic and a 1/4 cup of rosemarry inside the chicken with the carrots. super easy. remember if you have more than a 4lb chicken to cook it 18 to 25 minutes per pound! It must reach an internal temp of 180. I went to 185 and it was still very moist. this meal was GREAT and the bacon was awesome. However, Leaving the bacon on the top the whole time did not allow the skin to brown. we will be making this again for sure.

Willard Family German Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: May 12, 2012
Great Cake! My brother doesn't like cake at all, but he has always loved German Chocolate cake.... so he knows when it's good and he loved this cake and frosting. As did everyone else. It was super light, fluffy and moist (don't overcook it even a little). I made 36 cupcakes and they were amazing. You do need to cook the frosting and stir for 10-12 minutes, but I thickened it too much because as it cooled it got much to thick especially after adding the nuts and coconut flakes. To correct for this just add SWEETENED CONDENSED MILK and a little real milk until it brings it to the consistency you can spread. I would suggest when you are heating the sauce for the frosting you should stop cooking it whenever you notice it no longer falls immediately back into place when you move your spoon through the sauce. This will be close to 9-12 minutes depending on your stove. Remember, as it cools it will get even firmer. Other than my learning curve, this recipe is an ABSOLUTE WIN and I am using it anytime I need German chocolate cake!

Fudge Brownies I

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2011
can I give it less than 1 star? I tried this twice. Once with 2 eggs and it was inedible. It was a gooey mess that then cooled and hardened into what could only be a doorstop. With all 4 eggs as the recipe suggests it was MUCH better but I never got that great chocolate taste that I usually get from box mixes. For all the rave reviews on these brownies it was a major let down.... twice.

Easy Chicken Tetrazzini

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2008
This was a Very easy and good recipe. we added mushrooms but you don't have to. We did add some shredded cheddar cheese inside the pasta mixture and I feel like it MADE this taste just like a tetrazzini. We also added extra cheese on top and then some bread crumbs on the very top. It was fabulous! We will be keeping this recipe.

One Dish Chicken Bake

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2009
I think this rocks! I think it is awesome, as is, but I did throw in some fresh sliced mushrooms and let me say, it just REALLY took it up a notch. but really, it is GREAT without them, too. I suggest getting a stuffing mix with lots of seasoning, I bought Stove Top chicken flavored stuffing and it added plenty of flavor. YUM! This is a keeper for sure!!

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2013
We've made this recipe twice this year already. My husband prepared the first batch and I made the second batch. I love it just as it is. I did throw down powdered sugar on the counter when rolling out my dough like a lot of other reviews suggested and I loved it. This dough warms up quickly when left on the counter, so we like to put ours in the freezer just before rolling it out. This is delicious and we will be using this mix when making cookies to give out as gifts. Yummy, quick and easy!

I hate green olives, I made them for a party and people really liked them, someone else took the leftovers home ONLY use JUST enough breading, it is very dry and I even added more butter to the mix.

Fluffy Biscuits

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2008
We made some biscuits from "Joy of cooking" and they were awful and we threw them away. we tried these and we followed this recipe to the T. They turned out VERY fluffy and yummy. I would agree that the outside had a little bit of a flour taste from when you rolled it on the floured counter, but what do you expect, you just rolled it on a floured counter! These were VERY fluffy, and were great. we will probably use this recipe again. At 3/4" thickness it only made 7 1/2 biscuits.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2008
as far as taste goes, AWESOME! This really has a great taste and I am certain I will be making this again and again. My only issue is the brown sugar/ketchup mixture on the bottom of the pan hardens in some places and becomes chewy and hard to eat or even get off your spoon/fork. I used ground beef b/c it was all I had and I knew it would create more grease so I added extra bread crumbs and it turned out great. VERY EASY To make as well!

Chicken and Dumplings III

Reviewed: May 27, 2008
We kept back 3 cups of water and the soup is a little runny for our taste, so we just thickened it up with some flour and it was pretty darn good. It will be a repeat in our house for sure! Other than thickening it was good JUST AS IT WAS!

Grilled Venison Backstrap

Reviewed: May 2, 2008
WOW, this does taste just like stake. no game taste at all. We will be using this recipe again and again. I did it JUST as it said. Unfortunately some of our meat had a lot of tendons on it and of course that was very chewy, but that had more to do with how we cut the meat off the deer. The meat was AWESOME though!

Simply Lasagna

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2007
Great recipe. There is NO WAY there was enough ricotta cheese mixture to make that dish. I added one more 15 ounce can of ricotta and am VERY happy I did. When setting the pasta in there it looks like there isn't enough because of the gaps, but three pieces IS ENOUGH! I Promise. The Pasta expands A LOT! This recipe makes thin layers, and my family likes thick layers so we weren't able to make the required amount of layers, but this REALLY turned out great. If you double the ricotta cheese put a cookie sheet under the pan in the oven b/c the sauce overflowed just a little.

Tortilla Pinwheels

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2007
It was GREAT! I saw that several reviewers were trying to boost the taste. I made the first tortilla by the recipe, and agreed that it needed some extra taste. I realized if I spread the olives across the WHOLE tortilla and not just down the middle it helped A LOT! I also used more olives than the recipe called for. Using about 1/2 a cup or slightly more was PERFECT! My last name is olive, but that doesn't mean I LOVE olives! If you find the original recipe lacking a little, just make one tortilla this way, and see what you think. it is a great recipe though!
