Basic Flaky Pie Crust

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2012
I saved this recipe because I accidentally leave it taped on the back of a cupboard door when ever I move appartments. SOOO I saved it for the measurements EVEN THOUGH I KNOW THE KEY TO A PERFECT PIE CRUST IS subbing out one of those tablespoons of water with vinegar. Just try it once... I dare you.

Hash Brown Quiche

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2012
This was great! I always season hashbrowns or potatos a lot or it just gets too bland. I also blotted the hashbrowns to get excess water out of them which worked great. I put dried minced onions on top of them just hoping they'd suck up excess water, pretty sure that helped. My boyfriend loves onions so I put probably a half cup of chopped onions in with the ham and cheese which added more flavor. I didn't measure my ham but i wish i would have put more in.. The bites that didn't have the ham weren't as good. I am definitely making this again and i'll try some other breakfast meats also

A Hearty Green Bean and Sausage Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2011
absolutely loved this!!!! finally my green bean casserole has search has come to an end... ALTHOUGH I didn't have french fried onions... I thought I did but when I reached in the cupboard for the container... IT ended up being Lo Mein Noodles!!! ITS OKAY!!!! It still turned out great! Maybe the soy sauce was the secret ingredient here.... I cut the recipe in half because its only me and my boyfriend at home... Not enough freezer space to freeze half of it... It was really simple to do. Also for my pork sausage I had Jimmy Dean breakfast patties in the freezer.. at first I just thawed 6 of them... but decided to use all 8... So i had a little more sausage than the recipe called for. Still happy.

Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2010
i bet these wouldve been perfect i followed all the directions as given. except i thought i would cut the oil in half like someone had recommended, because it was healthier right? well i don't recommend it... i think thats why they weren't as moist as i expected. I only had strawberry yogurt so thats what i used. They tasted great

Cream of Mushroom Soup I

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2010
wow wow wow... i am extremely pleased with this recipe... of course the first time trying it, i used the reviews as a helper. I scaled down the recipe to 4 servings, becuase i didn't want to use a can and a half of soup... hate wasting. I actually didn't have enough fresh mushrooms but i did have some raw cauliflour in the fridge i just added maybe a half cup of that. I sauteed the onions and mushrooms in just butter first until the onions were translucent. forgot to add salt at that time.. NO BIG DEAL! I added it later. I followed the rest of the steps according to the directions, Didn't have half and half but i had whipping cream! and I used a little chardonay instead of sherry because thats what i had... I'm not complaining on the results... I can't imagine it tasting any better with sherry or half and half. thanks for the recipe! I only had one bite and I started my review! hahaha I hope it didn't get cold!

Pasta Pomodoro

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2010
I used a can of petit diced tomatos because I wasn't going to run to the store for 2 tomatos. It was awesome. My fiancee likes more saucy things he complains about the lighter looking pastas. so i just added heavy whipping cream... he can be tricked so easily. I loved it

Grilled Marinated Shrimp

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2010
very good... it would be better if i would've used larger shrimp such as jumbo, because the flavoring was almost too strong for the smaller sized shrimp i had.

Chicken Pot Pie II

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2010
WOW that was frusterating, writing a whole novel and accidentally hitting backspace at the wrong time and I lost everything I wrote! ANYWAYYYY, I read many of the reviews, and I sort of decided after reading about 50, I'd give my question a shot. I'm making the pot pie in a pie dish, with a crust on top and bottom. But I'm wondering if anyone has tried preparing the pie and then freezing it? I am skeptical on doing this, worried if its going to produce too much condensation and turn out bad. So do I try baking it a little a head of time? I'm attempting today either way. So when I get my results I will update my review. My boyfriends a logger and is home randomly, machine breaks down or some dilemma. So when he is home I don't want to be rushed and in the kitchen. I wanna spend as much time with him, so I like to have meals ready for him. IF ANYONE HAS GOOD RECIPES THAT I CAN PREPARE A HEAD OF TIME LET ME KNOW ;)

there are few recipes that I just give solid 5... this is one. Just did the recommendation of double rhubarb and 2 cups sugar. I've added strawberries in the past. It's a perfect combination. Splendid

Chuck's Favorite Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2010
It's very important to use sharp cheddar cheese. If you like this recipe you should try the one of the Taste of Home website... Its called, Deluxe Macaroni 'n' Cheese. That recipe is my favorite Mac n Cheese recipe...Tasting this recipe before i baked it it just wasn't the same. but i think my fiance wont mind. its still pretty good. I like to make it in the summer because i tend to burn off the calories faster than i do in the winter ;)

Ken's Perfect Hard Boiled Egg (And I Mean Perfect)

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2010
UNBELIEVABLE you'd think after cooking all these years i wouldn't need a recipe to hard boil eggs.. well i sure did.... after listening to people tell me a hundred different ways how to do it... well thanks to ken it was a success. I was worried about different sizes of eggs.. and it didn't seem to make a difference if you use medium or large... I havne't tried thiis recipe with farm eggs yet... i sort of given up on them... but i will try and give another review. my cousin in law's chickens can't seem to keep a consistant size egg... and i have had a lot of failed attempts... thanks again for the recipe

Shrimp Fettucine

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2010
every review recommended white white... i just was too lazy to go to the store and get some... so i used a chicken boullion cube with about 1/4 cup water... I let that desolve and added the whole thing... Also when sauteeing the butter i added 2 whole cloves of garlic, and just scored them to help release more flavor. I am not a big fan of chunks of garlic... You'll be able to remove them at the end. I really don't know how some people can say it lacked flavor... reading the ingredients what flavors were you expecting from it? It's great, thanks for the recipe

maybe i just expected something else....if i recall correctly( i'm just trying to organize my recipe boxes, so i didn't study the recipe again...) I also didn't have cornbread mix... so i used corn meal, that could've been a factor... it just was extremely bland
