Cheddar Buttermilk Biscuits

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2007
These were great and smelled fabulous! I made a big batch and froze them for future eating. Definitely a keeper!

Platski

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2007
I had trouble getting my pancakes to be thin. I don’t think I shredded them thinly enough; I shredded them using the “medium” holes in the shredder rather than the smallest ones. This seemed like a good recipe, but it didn’t exactly suit my palate.

Tuna Fish Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2007
Great recipe. I doubled it for a total of eight servings and added an extra can of tuna because "as is", the mixture seemed to be predominantly celery and onion and I like there to be a bit more tuna than "extras." I used green onion, Italian parsley, and only 3 tablespoons or so mayonnaise. Also, I put in 1/2 tablespoon garlic powder instead of 1/2 teaspoon. Tastes great--fresh parsley is a must.

Chris' Bay Area Burger

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2007
Like another reviewer, I wanted to keep this recipe “Italian.” I sprinkled some shredded Mozzarella cheese on top of the burger along with sautéed mushrooms and yellow peppers. I didn’t have any Italian bread so I had to use a hamburger bun, but I spread spaghetti sauce on the bottom and added some more to the top of the burger. I also sprinkled some additional basil and some Italian seasoning on the sauce. Next time I will sauté onion and garlic instead of the pepper. Wine goes well with this--I served this with a Shiraz. Great recipe!

Clark Gable Pancakes

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2007
Because half of the reviewers seemed to like the recipe as-is while half seemed to call for a reduction in the baking powder, I decided to be optimistic and try the recipe as-is. But---the baking powder definitely needs to be reduced. I tried one of the pancakes plain and all I could taste was the baking powder; however, I added syrup and that helped to mask a lot of the taste. I think that this is a good recipe, but it just needs to be tweaked a bit.

My Chicken Milano

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2007
I enjoyed this dish. I did some additional seasoning with basil, oregano, and garlic salt. I also used canned green beans and diced tomatoes since that was what I had on hand. It still turned out great though!

Never Fail Biscuits

Reviewed: May 1, 2007
My biscuits looked absolutely great, but they tasted funny! When I made the recipe, it was supposed to make four servings and it called for 4 teaspoons of baking powder. I'm a new cook and I used baking soda instead of baking powder (didn't have powder). I just did some research and read that baking soda is four times as strong as baking powder. Perhaps this is why my biscuits tasted funny? I guess I will have to be more careful next time when adding ingredients. Other than this, they were great. I'll definitely try them again. UPDATE: when baking powder and not baking soda is used, these biscuits are perfect. I’ve never tried another biscuit recipe. :)

Broccoli Chicken Casserole IV

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2007
This tasted very good, but was very runny at first. I added some cracker crumbs to try and absorb some of the extra liquid and I cooked it at 400° for the last ten minutes; that did the trick. However, like the other reviews suggest, I will cook the chicken before hand and make sure the broccoli is well-thawed before cooking.

Crumby Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2007
Very good--will make again. I did not think these were bland at all. However, it did take quite a bit longer to cook than it says.
