Best Bread Pudding with Vanilla Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2013
Used old cinnamon swirl bread and other than cutting back on the sugar and using golden raisins instead of regular, this was on point. Used a whiskey vanilla sauce for the topping! Very yummy and my new go to

White Cheese Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2011
I can't give this sauce more than 4 stars due to the modifications. I cut the butter to 2 tablespoonfuls (can't imagine 1 cup) and made a roux with it and 1 & 1/2 TBS of flour to make it thicker. After doing this I added the sour cream, 1 lg. can green chilies, I can green chili enchilada sauce, approx. 2TBS cream, and then the cheese last. Also added a bit of garlic because I'm a garlic freak. It's a keeper this way.

The Best Clam Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2011
I would have rated this a 5 but with my modifications I couldnt. I added a splash of half n half, a splash of chicken broth and extra wine. Also crumbled a few strips of bacon......yummy!

Pollo Fajitas

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2011
Good starter recipe. After tasting it the way it was written I decided it was missing something. With the addition of a few more ingredients it is soooo much better. Add cumin, dried or fresh cilantro, and chipotle powder(all to taste) and you will be amazed at the difference.

White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2010
This was just okay to me. Unfortunately all I could really taste was the white chocolate. Also I think the chocolate made the texture totally different than what I like in a cheesecake. It set up fine and looked beautiful but was more custard-like texture and less creamy. I've made my share of cheesecake I also listened to reviewers here who suggested raspberry preserves(which I used) and this just didn't take the place of the

Creamy Chicken Lasagna

Reviewed: May 19, 2009
I would give this a 5-star but I modified it too much. But..my modifications were awesome. I used fully cooked spicy chicken sausages w/peppers instead of plain chicken breast, onions, and used chedder cheese because I was out of mozzarella. Also added some garlic,1/3 fat cream cheese and chicken broth. One of the best lasagna's on here

The Best Bean and Ham Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2009
Would've given this a 5 but I modified it too much, so that wouldn't be fair. I used 5 cans of great northern beans-replaced the carrots/celery with what I had on hand which was broccoli. I was nervous about that but the whole family loved it. Used one can of tomatoes w/green chilis- 2 cans chix broth & 1 can vegi broth-added garlic powder-cut back on the salt as I used a smoked ham. Kept everything else pretty much the same-I never follow a recipe to the T. And last but not least, I added a ton of Franks Red Hot Sauce which I believe is what made this for me. Awesome!

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2009
Wow!! This is pretty good. I'm giving it four stars because it needed a bit of salt for my taste. I don't care what kind of "fat free" ingredients you substitute in this recipe, it is still not going to be healthy...so....I would eat this only occastionally. It is super rich, creamy and fattening, but yummy :)

Spaghetti Squash I

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2008
Wow!! Who would've thought this would be so good? My 13 year old even loved it. I went with half parmesan and half feta cheeses. I used cherry tomatoes which I think gave it just a hint of sweetness...loved it!

Kim's Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2008
If you like something with kick, this is it. Be warned this is not for the indigestion sufferers. I ended up making 12 servings which called for 4 jalapeno's but scaled it back to about 2 & 1/2 which was MORE than enough. I also added celery and pimento for color and texture. Very good but unfortunately 3 bites and I was reaching for the pepcid.

Jamie's Cranberry Spinach Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2008
The dressing on the salad was just way to sweet for mine and my families tastes. I tried the pine nuts and decided I'm just not a fan of them so didn't like that either. Overall, I won't make this again.

Chinese Cabbage Salad I

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2008
This salad was a big suprise-who would've thought that ramen noodles could taste so good! The only drawback is that the noodles get soft as the day goes on, so it's better eaten fresh. The dressing is what makes this recipe a success. No adjustments needed at all.

Pat's Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2008
This was a good recipe but you have to tinker with the sauce you mix in with the potatoes-there was WAY too much so I chose to throw some out. I also added egg, bacon bits, and some celery seeds and I'm glad I did. I think it would have been a bit boring without it.

Beef Tenderloin with Ginger-Shiitake Brown Butter

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2007
Everything was really good. The mirin gave the sauce a sweet taste which my husband and I liked very much. I never have broiled or pan-fried a steak to the same taste as a grill so I opted to do that and drizzle with sauce after. I also wrapped each tenderloin in apple wood smoked bacon for an extra flavor and I highly recommend a good quality bacon for this. I do prefer the taste of portabella mushrooms over shiitake but it was worth a shot. Overall very nice.

Spiced Pot Roast

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2007
I wasn't sure about this because of the raisins and I also have a very picky family...but...I got RAVE'S about this roast. I used hot mango chutney as it didn't say which one to use. No leftovers at my house.

Mom's Ground Beef Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2007
The family wasn't all that impressed with this recipe. Even with the addition of tomatoes and garlic, I felt it was bland. I do need to mention however that we are really not the casserole type of family so I'm not sure if that had some part in it.

Tres Leches Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2007
This is a good recipe if you're in the mood for a shortcake flavor. I topped mine with strawberries before I put the whip cream on-very good. Watch your cook time closely, this only took 25 minutes to bake as I have a gas range.
