Irresistible Double Chocolate Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2009
These are great!! I did not have flax seed so after some research decided to replace with whole wheat flour and thank goodness they worked out wonderfully with nice round tops!! My son who is the pickiest eater on the planet with many food aversions, LOVES THESE!! And they are healthy.. By the way I went and bought the ground flax seed for when I make them next time.

Raspberry Ribbons

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2009
This is a pretty simple recipe. One thing I would suggest is that you use jam or jelly and not a low sugar spread. Low sugar spreads do not have enough sweetness to them and the flavor vanishes into the cookies (at least mine did). I also tried to top with an icing with almond flavoring. This could work, as there are raspberry almond thumbprints on this site that use it. But I found it was a little over powering, so next time I will stick with the recommended vanilla.

Strawberries and Cream Bread Pudding

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2007
This recipe was beautiful. It is sweeter than standard bread pudding, and I only used 2/3 cup of sugar. I also substituted strawberry yogurt for the cream. My entire family loved this pudding and it was pretty much gone in 24 hours.

Cantonese Barbecued Pork

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2007
This recipe is really good. The flavor is abundant. I used white wine instead of sherry because I had none on hand. I cooked on wire rack on a cookie Sheet lined with parchment. Turned out perfect husband says this one is a keeper. I am unsure about using reserved marinade for basting, so next time I will keep some of the mix outside the meat for safety.

Slow Cooker Turkey Stew

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2009
I made this recipe.. Followed the spice levels and found it quite bland.. Added double the spices/herbs and still found it bland. Using the recommended amount of chicken flavor, still needed to add salt, pepper, extra lemon pepper, and still found it quite bland. Not a family favorite at this time.

Berry Sour Cream Cake

This is a nice cake. It is VERY tender, and subtley sweet. I did not add blueberries, but sprinkled raspberries with 2 TBSP of white sugar before baking.

Cinnamon Rolls III

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2007
UPDATE!! My husband prefers these to any others I have made.. Guess he was wrong when he originally felt these were nothing special. Good thing to note is that you can use butterscotch pudding mix if you do not have vanilla. Also note that it is 1/3 cup of pudding mix, in case you have bought the 6 serving size of pudding mix. I have to agree with the other reviews, if you want a softer bun, cook only to the 15 minute mark.

Grilled Asparagus

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2008
I followed the advice of some other reviewer and added some additional flavors (balsamic vinegar, garlic). I think I will add more salt next time, becuase the 1/2 tsp I added was not quite enough. This tastes so good though, my hubby and I both agree that asparagus loves the smokey flavor of being grilled. But note it takes about 6-8 minutes, and not the 3-4 mentioned.

Zucchini Pie

Reviewed: May 12, 2008
Our family likes this recipe, but it is important that alterations are made. We use sour cream instead of oil, grate the zucchini, add cheddar cheese and bacon. We will add tomatoes this time and some carrots for some color and change. It is pretty basic and bland, so you need to add and flavor it to your liking first. I bake it in a glass corning ware pie pan, it takes up to 1 hour.

Snickerdoodles I

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2009
These are so good, we followed the directions exactly except cooked it around 350 instead of 375 (my oven tends to be hot). I added the vanilla other reviewers suggested and had to use butter because i had no shortening.. EVERYONE in my family LOVED these...

Zippy Shepherd's Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2008
This is a really good recipe. We used MILD CURRY since my hubby does not like heat. I used all fresh veggies.. This is great.. Used a little less meat and mushrooms, peppers, Onions, Garlic, Zucchini, carrots, adn peas. The flavor got better as it sat, and the end product is wonderful. Husband says it is a definate keeper, easy on the budget adn flavorful to boot.

This is a very versatile recipe that we like to play with to make new and exciting quiches. As is, it can be boring and dull.

Mimi's Zucchini Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2008
OK, so I am a bad girl and I followed the recipe that was included in one of the comments (3 c shredded zuchinni, 1/3 c oil, 1/2 c cheddar, 1/4 cup parmesan, 1 cup baking mix, 1 onion, salt, pepper. Mixed all together, topped with 1/3 cup shredded cheddar and 1 Tablespoon parmesan). I am one of those cookers who like to play when I bake, so I didn't follow the recipe exactly, but OMG it was incredible. I plan on making this again and again. I will try it a little closer to the original posted, because the bones of this recipe are good and easy to manipulate.

Sloppy Sams

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2009
I have to rate this a 5, although I added some brown sugar because I like my joes sweeter.. My husband said I should have left the recipe as is and is sure he would have loved the more savory version. Our three year old ate all his sloppy and none of his bun. I did not find this recipe bland and wonder if for those people who said it seemed bland if it was the lentils or tomatoes or paste used???
