My favorite things to cook
I love to bake sweets - mostly cookies, cakes, cupcakes, muffins and my husband and I have waistlines to prove it!! I also love to try new appetizers. I search out recipes for one-dish meals to meet both our dietary and scheduling needs.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother is well known for whoopie pies, chocolate chip cookies and chocolate snappers. I'm constantly trying to figure out her "secret ingredient". I always make Buckeye Balls at Christmas.

Thanksgiving 2006 - the perfect Martha Stewart turkey.
My cooking tragedies
Anything with yeast in it and pie crusts. Self-root canals are easier for me.

Chicken Pot Pie IX
I heeded the suggestion to double the sauce and I'm glad I did. The flavor is great. I recommend making two more changes. The first is to boil whole, skinless boneless breasts and then shred them. The second would be to mix the chicken/veggie mixture into the sauce after the sauce is done AND THEN pour into a pie crust. This allows for plenty of sauce to fit in the pie plate without spilling over.

Orange Pecan French Toast
This recipe is an absolutely indulging treat! Prepared the night before Christmas and served after a fun morning of present opening. I used egg nog in place of milk and I'll do the same when I make this recipe again. I found the baking time to be way too short. After an additional 10 minutes in the oven, the bread was still too soggy in the middle. Next time I'll bake for ~50 minutes tenting the top with foil after 40 minutes to avoid the top getting burned.

Best Spanish Rice
This rice was great. I have 2 picky eaters and I didn't hear anything but muffled yums. I had to make a few changes based upon what I had. I used Uncle Ben's Brown Rice instead of white, and Newman's Own Mango salsa. I will definitely make this rice dish again.
